Interesting article on U.S. claims in Cuba: The strange battle that is exciting speculators and could stand in the way of normalization.

Seems this has a huge impact on dropping the Embargo.....

And it looks like the talks between the US and Cuba on the claims will begin: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/05/world/americas/cuba-and-us-to-discuss-settling-claims-on-property.html?_r=1

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. I don't see all of these claims being paid out. I also don't see all of the owners handing over their rights to their claims.

The only way I see this happening, is the US gov handing over massive amounts of aid money. Very little of which ends up in the hands of those who actually need it. Mostly goes to settle claims, line official pockets, and pay for some infrastructure build outs by US firms for future business/tourist interests.

I never thought I would see the day when Cuban officials would ever sit down to discuss the issue.

They would be coming with a game plan.
