kuma Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 There I was smoking through one of many sticks from a wonderful box of "under the radar" smokes from Rob's 24:24 program last night. Out of 25 sticks maybe I've smoked 12 or 13 because I can't keep my hands / lips / brain from enjoying this stunning smoke. Well long story short the stick I was smoking last was a real dog. Super bitter from the third puff and down hill from that point forward. Thought if I kept smoking it the smoke would fall inline and become a winner just like the others before it. But to my horror that never happened. 2/3rd's through I chucked it. I was totally shocked because all the other sticks from this box up until last night have been nothing short of smooth coffee / cream mild to the core and very well balanced. So if any mates have any ideas or reasons why this should / would happen I'm all ears!
Habana Mike Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 You didn't by chance dissect the remainder? Might have found it was chock full of stems. That can turn a cigar nasty.
LGC Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Sounds like poorly fermented tobacco or simply poor quality leaf. These type of issues can pop up at any time.
kuma Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Just a foot note; I have always received A1 / top of the line stock from Rob. Be it the 24:24 program or some special request on my part Rob and staff have always come through with flying colors. They are and will be my only source for Habanos because I'm not very good at trusting others when it comes to this subject. If I sound like a FOH homer that could be true but I'm just stating what has worked for me and hope will continue to into the future.
LordAnubis Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Could be many things, could be the ambiance, could be what you ate, what you drank, could be you, could be crap tobacco, crap construction, could have hit a bad batch patch in the aging phase of the cigar to name a few... Smoke another one and if you don't like that either then put the box at the back of the humidor and get back to it in a year or so.
garbandz Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 did you really smoke 2/3 of a bad cigar? At least you had 12 or 13 excellent ones from that box.Pretty good odds............
kuma Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Thanks Mr. LordAnubis it could be and the way I had stored it in my humi. or any one of a 1000 reasons. 1 out of 100's of smokes I've bought and smoked in the past 2 - 3 yrs from our host is not a bad average in retrospect, hats of to our host.
kuma Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Yes pretty close to two thirds I don't give up easy.
