Ken Gargett Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 KG, with no antagonism, would it have been OK if it were men? But more to the point. if it's the media calling them role models, then that's all I need to know...... hi colt, apols, been off air. no absolutely same diff i think (i hope) - though i probably would have taken less notice if blokes. i used to be a huge boxing fan though not these days. rather watch old vids of ali/frazier/foreman/norton etc. and yes, i was the media.

Middlewight boxing has been really good this year. Golovkin's been great for the sport. Hopefully the winner of this Sundays bout has a crack at him. That's something that will be worth watching, if fact any Golovkin fights worths watching. He's dangerous!! 1
CdnLimitada Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Humble pie.
teamrandr Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Stupid 'sport' IMO. No interest. Thanks for sharing this relevant information.
LGC Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 No matter which sport, it's always refreshing to see skill overcome ego.
Orion21 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Rhonda, from everything I had read, was kind of a one trick pony with her Judo. She came up against someone as good, or better, at punching and kicking to keep her away. It was a violent end to her run, completely split lower lip and all . . .
Paul3 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 LMAO Can't think of a more deserving outcome in MMA in the last 10 years...hell, probably since Gracie embarrassed Shamrock wayyyy back in the day. I can think of several. Two of which where Rousey opponents, both of which ran at the mouth far more than Rousey has, Correia and Tate. Tate especially after losing the first match up so badly and talking smack immediately after, leading up to and again after the second match up. Each of the Lidell v Ortiz match ups. Tito was good, but not the same class as Lidell, not that that ever stopped Ortiz and his smack talking. The best of them all?......Henderson v Bisping post TUF coaching season. Me thinks the bandwagon is getting full.
Colt45 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 hi colt, apols, been off air. no absolutely same diff i think (i hope) - though i probably would have taken less notice if blokes. i used to be a huge boxing fan though not these days. rather watch old vids of ali/frazier/foreman/norton etc. and yes, i was the media. Cheers KG. I'm not a fan, but I don't mind either way. Interestingly to me, I heard / read that while MMA has been allowed in OZ for some time, the cage has been allowed only recently, which is one reason the fight was held there. Regarding boxing I hold a similar view, though I couldn't call myself a huge fan. But I pretty much always watched the matches with the boxers you mentioned. Personally, if it's the media calling them (or any sports figure, or really, anyone) role models, I can't hold it against the athletes. 1
jazzbass Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I dunno.... I think that Tiger Woods was a role model until.. well... You know..... He did a lot for the sport, Hell they changed Golf courses because of him. Rhonda simply tried to outbox a better boxer.. Bad idea
