JohnS Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Broncos vs Cowboys in the Grand Final on Sunday October 4th, kick-off 7.15 pm. Who will win? Past results in 2015 :- Round 3: Broncos 44 Cowboys 22 at Suncorp Stadium Round 10: Cowboys 31 Broncos 20 at 1300Smiles Stadium Qualifying Final: Broncos 16 Cowboys 12 at Suncorp Stadium For me, this is difficult to call as all victories this year have been by the home team. Also, both teams have only played one match each at ANZ Stadium in Homebush, Sydney (where the Grand Final is to be played). Broncos beat the Bulldogs 16-8 in Round 18 while the Cowboys beat Souths 30-12 in Round 6. Historically, the Cowboys will have sentimental support from NRL fans as they have only been in one Grand Final, which they lost in 2005 to the Tigers 30-16. The Broncos have won 6 NRL Grand Finals (and 1 Super League Grand Final in 1997) in their history and have never lost.
Ken Gargett Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Oh great 2 Qld teams in the grand final! First origin, now this. It's hard work being a New south Welshman ah, just see it as more proof that even god wants to be a qlder. 1
El Presidente Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Whomever wins the grand final, we are in for a cracker game While a Broncos supporter, I wouldn't begrudge JT lifting that trophy....who could? You would think 50 points+ in the grand Final. Strap yourselves in for a pearler of a game
JohnS Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Whowever wins the grand final, we are in for a cracker game While a Broncos supporter, I wouldn't begrudge JT lifting that trophy....who could? You would think 50 points+ in the grand Final. Strap yourselves in for a pearler of a game Agreed, it will be a great game. Although Johnathan Thurston won a Premiership Medal with the Bulldogs in 2004 as a replacement, I know he would love to win this one, as he tried to give the medal to his fellow North Queensland friend and mentor, Steve Price. Price was injured for the 2004 Grand Final and could not play, yet he refused Thurston's offer.
jabster Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 ah, just see it as more proof that even god wants to be a qlder. You had to go and bring religion into it I m not fussed who wins, though I truly believe JT deserves a premiership as a cowboy.
soutso Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Based on the finals series, as a neutral I think this is the most mouth watering GF. The last time these two met the game was a joy to watch. I think the stage is set for the Cowboys to be robbed from a refereeing blunder and then we will have the joy of watching a dopey Gordon Tallis trying to elicit an emotional tirade from a buggered and pissed off JT. Oh the theatre!
jat Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 ah, just see it as more proof that even god wants to be a qlder. God IS a Queenslander......he's got a place up at Port Douglas. 1
JohnS Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I've never experienced a Grand Final Week like this one in Sydney. It's like it's not even on this Sunday! In comparison, last year's Grand Final between Souths and Canterbury was akin to the end of World War II celebrations!
rckymtn22 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Generally only see one game a year, so hope this one is better than last years. Know nothing much about the team, just like watching.
jat Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 2 hrs to go. Beers are cold, Cowboys supporter shirts on, ready. GF should have been in Brisbane, NSW just dirty they've won nothing this year (SoF, GF, Dally M)
jat Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 And it looks like the Ipswich Jets (QLD) will win the 2015 State Championships over the Newcastle Knights (NSW), another empty spot in the NSW trophy cabinet.
jat Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 in a state of shock, the best game of any final of any sport I've seen. couldn't be any happier even if it was raining rum and coke. have to go an lie down
Guest rob Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Brilliant game. Just brilliant. The only time I've ever felt joyous watching a QLD team win!

Congratulations to Johnathan Thurston and the Cowboys, but I do feel for Ben Hunt!
Guest rob Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 The game reminded me of the '89 GF - nail biting, and the right teams won!
JohnS Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 The game reminded me of the '89 GF - nail biting, and the right teams won! Incredible, I mentioned this game tonight when Thurston's goal-kick hit the post to my son. It reminded me of Benny Elias' field goal attempt that hit the crossbar. Seems like yesterday!
westg Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Don't watch a lot of league ....that was incredible... great to see Thurstan finish them off like that, what a thrill to watch...enjoy your win Cowboys supporters
jat Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 It's been a week and folks in NQ are still coming down from the win, hangovers for a week. First GF is something special and means so much for an area the size of Ireland. All over the region thousands of kids trying to be JT, reliving the last minute kick to win the GF.
jat Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 In a world where the news cycle is limited to 24hr, it's warming to know that the Cowboys are still, I say still, taking the NRL trophy to the people. They have 75,000 m2 to cover remember. I got a FB feed 8 hrs ago that the trophy is visiting the Waltzing Matilda centre in Winton QLD., pictures below For those from OS the green thing in the pictures is a crocs leg, a small one. It's been constantly touring since the 4th Oct. Every school in every town turns out to see a couple of player and the Provan -Summons Trophy. In the era where players are paid millions and the fan plays a support role for TV, it's great to see a team spending time with the people who scream, cry and support their team every week. All administrators of the game should have tattooed on their arms " no fans, no team, no money", to remember their priorities. 1
