Tobacco Beetle

Recommended Posts

Afternoon brothers, I have a question. I opened my big cabinet humidor about 5 minutes ago and was looking over my stock. I have been over indulging in my CC lately and decided to get a NC. I picked a Gurkha Black Rose, I was given about 50 of these a year back and have stored them and decided to have one now, as I removed it from the cellophane I noticed a little round hole. I cut it open and found a live white little maggot looking larva maybe 1/8" long. Since it was in cellophane should I be worried about the rest of m stock? I took a quick glance at others and did not see anything. I have about 3800 sticks in this humidor.

Since you found a live beetle I would freeze every cigar in the cabinet. Just to be safe.

Ill use the Gurkha as bait to keep them away from my CC section.

You know beetles can eat thru cello,of course..........

positive side is you will have room for 50 GOOD cigars, when you dispose of the Gurkha ha ha.........

50 free Gurkha? You Overpaid............

You'll have a hard time getting 3,800 cigars into any freezer.

Get ziplock bags and bag them up, then leave them in the humidor. Freeze in batches.

It'll take you a while but the only way to be absolutely sure.

Alternatively, leave them in the ziplock bags and check them every few weeks for a year or so.

If there is no more beetle activity in the year, you have no more beetles.
