When I arrived at the warehouse yesterday I picked a box of Ramon Allones Superiores and H. Upmann Royal Robusto (both late 2014) to smoke through during the week.

To me both are consistent, flavoursome and complex cigars that seldom fail to satisfy.

I was thinking yesterday how I can really not tell any difference from their original release to today (current release) in terms of flavour profile. That is a good thing to my way of thinking. If anything the quality is up.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing or have you had a different experience?

I think you are right especially with the Superiores...The first box of Upmann I received from you were at a different level (outstanding) dark red wrappers rich in oils SUB ABR 12 , I actually still have three left from that box It is the only cigar that I try and savour ..everything else gets smoked when ever for what ever reason. I rang my wife a few weeks back to bring me down a cigar we were fishing for salmon of the beech , I said just grab any cigar the first one you see it doesn't matter ...I think my facial expression gave up just enough when I saw that red Upmann. that said everything else is has been terrific, love the size love the flavour. Always solid always consistent.

The Superiores have been, well, superior to the Upmann in my experience. I did not have good luck with the Upmann on release (poor construction). The RA have been consistently excellent. As for the flavor, the RA have remained the same. I still don't have a clear picture of the Upmann flavor profile.

I actually smoked a RR yesterday and am smoking a RA superioir right now. IMO you are spot on Rob. Not even the slightest drop in quality from original release. Why cant they do that with all Vitolas. 2#$$#^%$&

I can testify to the Superiores as stated by everyone. I have multiple boxes an years from the original and have been consistent.

RR is not as consistent which I believe has to do with the wrapper. The lighter wrapper yields less favorable flavor aspects compared to the darker redder/brown wrappers. But, I think that holds true for the marca in general and not just with the RR.

Superiores are awesome (12/13 boxes) but can't say the same about the Royal Robustos. Pale wrappered box. So sad.

I concur on both. I've had 4 boxes of the Superiores from different sources and 6 of the Royal Robustos over the last couple of years and every stick has been flawless and predictably satisfying. Despite the limited sample size, the Superiores might be more telling as I picked up the first couple boxes in Hong Kong (Red Divan) before I found FOH. The fact that you can get a good cigar of a single marca from different sources says something about its consistency. The Royal Robustos all came from FOH, so they were already coming from a batch of boxes that were screened for quality.

I went through 5 boxes of MUR May12 Superiors and loved them all. The last 3 boxes I went through were from 2013 and were all really lackluster.

Glad to hear the quality may be even better than before...perhaps it is time for me to pick up a few more.
