hulklogan Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Hi guys, Heading to Vegas in a few weeks, and its been several years since my last visit. Looking to mainly relax--I'm staying at the Luxor. I have a couple of questions for the better traveled: 1) Can you smoke cigars at tables, walking around the casino, etc... 2) Best cigar lounge to chill out for a few hours and have some drinks? 3) Best restaurant for some BBQ or a steak? 4) Any activities you recommend (non-club)? I would love to stay on/near the strip, but would venture away from the glory if necessary... Thanks guys!
Hypersomniac Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Vegas is a good time, try not to lose too much money. 1) If I remember correctly, there is no smoking in the restaurants, but smoke away while you are in the casinos. (It seems like it isn't allowed in poker rooms and there are some spots in various casinos that don't allow it) 2) Can't help you out a whole lot here, not a lot of experience with it. I know there is Casa Fuente in the Forum Shops at Caesar's. 3) I am sure there are others who have eaten at far more places than I have in Vegas. I thoroughly enjoyed my Wagyu beef ribeye at Craftsteak in the MGM Grand though. 4) I end up going to a Cirque du Soleil show every time I am in Vegas. They are a lot of fun. I would recommend O.
Orion21 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Vegas as been a let down on the smoking front. There are very few cigar friendly areas, aside from the casinos. But even in the casinos more often than not you get annoying people who complain. I just find it more enjoyable not to smoke when out and about. When in Vegas we do most of our smoking in our suite. Ask for one, they exist. It makes enjoying your cigars a possibility. If you are looking for great steak Vegas has quite a few options and you will have to pay for it. Craftsteak is very good, but also very expensive. We've averaged $400-$500 a person, which included drinks and wine. A more reasonable place, while still very good, is Delmonicos at the Palazzo. I've been there 6-7 times now and it is always excellent. A new place we tried recently was Botero at the Encore. The bone-in ribeye for two was roundly awarded the best steak we've had in Vegas in the last 3-4 years and when in Vegas we eat steak!

Last time I was out there I tried Colicchio's Heritage Steak at the Mirage, and it's pretty solid as well. Cheaper than Craftsteak. I've been underwhelmed with Delmonico. I'd rather get a steak at Ruth's Chris or Capital Grille than Delmonico, just my opinion. For a non-steak meal, I'd recommend the lobster pot pie at Michael Mina in the Bellagio.
hulklogan Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 Thanks guys... anyone tried the new cigar lounge at Binions?
HarveyBoulevard Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Love staying at the Golden Nugget. Newly renovated and great tower suites. Love Hugo's for a great meal in the cellar of the Four Queens down the street. Great cigar bar in the Four Queens.
JohnS Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I end up going to a Cirque du Soleil show every time I am in Vegas. They are a lot of fun. I would recommend O. I loved the Beatles 'Love' show when I was in town a few years ago. I also enjoyed the helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon that ran out of Boulder City.
khamy Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Its been a few years for me as well but one of my favorite towns in the US. 1) Smoked while playing one arm bandits, casino's are big enough that you just need to look for a quieter area. Boss Style it and hire your self a VIP area at the pools at Ceasars Palace and smoke away (admittedly not my style, though i had no issues smoking around the pool area - just find a quieter spot) 2) Casa Fuente works well if you have wife - she gets to shop at the Forum and Miracle Mile Malls. 3) Colicchio's Heritage Steak is only place i can offer, being asian i went for the value of the Buffet's where there was plenty of variety. 4) Hire a car and explore the local surrounding area - bush walk at Valley of the Fires and Red Rock, check out Hoover Dam.
airtrade Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Thanks guys... anyone tried the new cigar lounge at Binions? Was there last week. It looked nice but I was having more fun walking around Fremont St. http://vegasexperience.com/downtown-new-man-cave-binions-opens-new-cigar-lounge/ We stayed at the D, most casino time was there no one said a thing while I was inside smoking. Enjoyed a steak at Andiamo Italian Steakhouse it was quite good and about $100 each.
JohnS Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I forgot to add...for us who are tourists, I couldn't get enough of The Cheesecake Factory either! 1

The whisky/cigar lounge upstairs at Andres in Monte Carlo is a great spot for cigars. The patio at Rhum Bar (Mirage) is also a favourite spot. Activities...rent a dune buggy, go to the gun range, Saphires for strippers, exotic cars on the raceway, etc. What are your dates? I'm there June 12-15. 1
AbuAmelia Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I was just in Vegas last week. I smoked a cigar or two on every casino and at every table and nobody said anything. Actually, at one table, I asked if my cigar smoke was bother them, and they said that's the best smelling cigar I've smelt. I was smoking a Siglo VI. You should have no problems in casinos.
nem Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (2) Casa Fuente inside Caesar's is popular, but I prefer Parasol Up Parasol Down at the Wynn. It's a great place to smoke cigars and sip on well crafted cocktails while enjoying a water fall and light show. Napoleon's at Paris could be enjoyable as well if you like piano bars. (3) Another vote for Craftsteak. Del Frisco’s is also good, but it's not situated inside a hotel or casino.
Nrengle Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 You want old Vegas style steakhouse, go to the Golden Steer. It's where the Rat Pack and many other celebrities of classic Vegas would go after their shows. But be prepared to drop some coin. Very cool spot, and I believe there is a cigar spot next door actually.

Yep, this is where Tony Spilotro and his guys would meet and eat alot of the time back when Vegas was actually an enjoyable town to be in.
bambam Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Lots of good recs here. I tend to avoid smoking at the tables though. Often someone is offended so it is hit or miss. I will usually sit at a quarter slot when I want to enjoy a smoke. The dueling piano bar in Paris used to be another good place to enjoy a cigar. They have a small room in the back that is popular with the cigar crowd. You must get there early though. The Circ shows are also a must see. Worth it. Hoover dam is also a cool day trip. Enjoy
stunod Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Ok , I'm a Vegas nut. I go a few times a year. I your going to Bin Love staying at the Golden Nugget. Newly renovated and great tower suites. Love Hugo's for a great meal in the cellar of the Four Queens down the street. Great cigar bar in the Four Queens. Well.. Well .. Well, Harvey, you are spot on. But let's not tell to many people about that remarkable restraunt ,Hugos Cellar , and then the short walk upstairs to the little cigar bar that happens to overlook the craps tables which I like to visit so often. I can spend all my time downtown . It reminds me when Rob says he like a little mongrel in his cigar. Well I like a little mongrel in my Vegas
AbuAmelia Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Make sure you stop at Spearmint Rhino! You can smoke there also!
forgop Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Was there in March. Smoked at the tables without issue. I caught the blue man group and it was OK. Word of advice-never tip on the buffet in advance. Had abysmal service at one of the higher end buffets and regretted it.
