JackFNQ Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Every 3 years or so we take the kids to Gold Coast. Will be headed there in May. Just wondering where are the best places to eat? Normally i take the wife to the Versace Buffet and there is a good ribs/steak place next to it in the marina arcade. Also like going to Yum Cha. We like trying different things. Any suggestions...
JohnS Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 where is gold coast South-East Queensland, not far from Brisbane. http://www.visitgoldcoast.com/map/
Hunter1974 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 South-East Queensland, not far from Brisbane. http://www.visitgoldcoast.com/map/ Thanks John I really hope to travel one day ! lol when I used to compete I traveled some in the US but I have never been on an Airplane lol
JohnS Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 It would be great for you to visit, Hunter. The Gold Coast is comparable, in terms of weather and infrastructure, to the east coast of Florida, in my opinion.
Scroats Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Gold Coast is on my Australia list. How's the fishing?
JackFNQ Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 goldcoast.tripadvisor.com.au/ has some good info
JackFNQ Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Went to TopOne YumCha yesterday. I think Brisbane Chinatown is better.
JackFNQ Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Had some orange roughy from a very good fish shop behind carpet world, Harbour Seafood Market,Olsen Ave. $9 extra per kg to cook and gst. Pretty good. Some live unshucked oysters from Tasmania as well.
JackFNQ Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Now looking for some sukiyaki, but may have to settle for Teppanyaki.
JackFNQ Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Managed to pick up some dreamworld tickets for $30 for 30 days. May is a good time of year to go. Bit colder for us though.
JackFNQ Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 May is a good time of year to go. - I mean we seem to pick up good discounts across the board on the Gold Coast this time of year.
Habana Mike Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Wife and I ate at a great restaurant there around 10 years ago. Forget the name but recall the Moreton Bay Bugs fondly!
JackFNQ Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Wife and I ate at a great restaurant there around 10 years ago. Forget the name but recall the Moreton Bay Bugs fondly! They are the best. I had a friend from USA visit and he wanted Moreton Bay Bugs. I let him down as I didn't realise that they weren't easy to get in the USA. My bad. So common here.
Smooth Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Now looking for some sukiyaki, but may have to settle for Teppanyaki. Arakawa at Royal Pines Resort does a good Sukiyaki, plus amazing sushi and Teppanyaki
Smooth Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 I eat there once a week. Forgot to mention sukiyaki isn't on the menu but they will happily make it upon request.
JackFNQ Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Thanks Smooth for the info. I'll look into it. I haven't had sukiyaki in years.
JackFNQ Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Went to Ribs&Rumps on the marina last night. Got a 50%off prepay deal. I'd recommend fillet steak with pork ribs and mash. Kids liked the sorbet.
JackFNQ Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Had a humble lunch outside movieworld entrance today on the picnic tables. Rolls with smoked salmon & cold smoked salmon and guacamole. Better and cheaper than the greasy rubbish inside. Can't do 5star all the time. But with byo cups, a 2lt choc milk and bundy sars not too shabby.
