The prayer

In Church on Sunday, I heard a sweet elderly lady in the pew next to me, saying a prayer.

It was so innocent and sincere that I just had to share it with you:

Dear Lord , the past couple of years have been very tough for me.

You have taken my favourite actor, James Garner, my favourite actress, Lauren Bacall, my favourite comedian, Robin Williams, my favourite singer, Jo Cocker and finally , my favourite author, Tom Clancy .

I just wanted you to know, Lord, that my favourite politicians are:

Clive Palmer, Christine Milne, Sarah Hanson-Young, and that stupid ***** from Tasmania. Amen.

you would have to say that the only thing said woman from tassie has going for her is that she looks like einstein compared to hanson-young. a sea-slug looks like einstein compared with hanson-young. i honestly can't think of any person from any country who is more of an embarrassment to that country than she is. but i guess it says so much about the electorate that we elected her.

in fact, if it is true that you get the politicians you deserve then what the hell does it say about us - hanson-young, clive palmer, gillard, krudd, abbott, hanson, shorten, that bunch of self-important independents from the previous parliament and so many more. if you believe in reincarnation then the current population of australia must have all been fricking nazi storm troopers in a past life.

I have no idea who these people are and I don't think googling will help me understand much...

So I just read those names with politicians from local Toronto/Canada so I could enjoy the prayer on the same level as you do

Short of a peoples revolt which declares war on the Vatican I don't know what we could do to deserve pollies like Palmer, Lambie and Muir.

Vote with intelligence people, vote with intelligence.

This crap about protest votes and sending the major party's a message has done nothing but hurt the short thinking population that we have all become due to the ridiculous media cycle and the continuous polling that goes on.

We also need to get rid of the upper house, they have too much power and have done nothing to advance our future.

We are the only Westminster based system to have an upper house and all the other countries who were smart enough to not go down this track are doing far better than we.

When New Zealanders start leaving to go home in the numbers that they are we really are in trouble.

Well that and it also makes Ken very happy.
