Popular Post El Presidente Posted April 4, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2015 We have fallen in love with Hoi An. The pace of life here is far slower than Saigon, the people have the time to interact, the food is beyond brilliant, the architecture stunning. In many ways it reminds me of Havana Vieja with an Asian theme. I am running out of cigars quickly ....and noticed the resort hotel here has a humidor. It is a poorly frequented humidor due to the price but I had a look inside. La Gloria Tainos and Partagas Serie De Conaisseur 1 looked in excellent condition and genuine. The price of $125 USD a cigar was genuine as well I haven't found anywhere else in Hoi An to purchase a cigar so I will hold out until I am back in Saigon. This port city is beautiful if very much commercialised. I have still found plenty of places off the beaten track to share some great local food and piss poor red wine...but cheap. The beer is always cold and bloody good. We head out tomorrow for a full day snorkelling and beach Seafood BBQ. Di is having a ball. I am not sure how much clothes and hand bags one woman can buy. Apparently we are now buying luggage to carry back the excess I have been impressed about the inert hunger for betterment of the people of Vietnam. Hotels are built in 6 months to a year. Most people here in Hoi An have 2 jobs, some 3. They work their arses off. Besides shopping (at olympic standard), Di has adopted about 6 female locals and a ragtag bunch of dogs. She can't walk down the street without the yells of "DDDDDD" coming out and a glass of Sav Blanc coming out in a myriad of glasses and cups. She is in her element ...for the love of god she has befriended a local who is taking her shopping on Monday to ensure she is not ripped off after being aghast at Di's performance at a local tailor. I could have used her a week ago So off to an island tomorrow. Snorkelling etal. Back for a suit fitting, Seafood BBQ dinner and then I have been booked in for a local full body massage at 8pm. Di has organised it and apparently this one is not a brothel...unlike the last arranged by my good mate. I just go with the flow 9
laficion Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 FANTASTIC !!!!! Is all that I find to say bro.. Guy
JohnS Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 $USD125 a cigar? I'd hang out too! How much can Di buy? Aah...she can still get more for Lisa. I know these things because my wife and her sister are a year apart and that is what she'd do on a holiday! Suit fitting? Brilliant, you won't regret it. Consider getting two El Pres. I'm thankful myself for going all out at the Waikele Premium Outlet in Hawaii on my December trip last year. In fact, you both should stock up on as many goods as you can legally bring back with AUD been so weak at the moment. We both know how expensive clothes are in Australia (like everything else).
NJP Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Enjoy, its the best of relaxed Vietnam in the middle. Da Nang and Hue are cool too. And tell Di all the **** you by in Vietnam doesn't keep its same appeal when you get home.
