Coolio Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 And I wonder if Brad Scott's 'back' operation and month off work, is stress leave or something similar? Coaching the Kangaroos would drive your stress levels up for sure! I watched the Collingwood 2nd half comeback at work yesterday while banging out a few flight plans. Hopefully the pilots understood why some of their plans were a little late! What a great game it was.

What a great game it was. sure was ...and Brad Scott blaming his players for that loss pity ...Nathan made a few good moves ...Brad had a look on his face as if I don't know what to do...Its wins like that which can make a team great. And the weagles gave his brothers side a good old fashioned arse whipping as well..if we kicked straight it would have been murder ..Nic Nat is going to take some beating for mark of the year.. 1
LordAnubis Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 And the weagles gave his brothers side a good old fashioned arse whipping as well..if we kicked straight it would have been murder ..Nic Nat is going to take some beating for mark of the year.. Do the eagles not have any kicking coaches or something? Keep in mind i don't follow the game, but when i see the eagles are dominating a game/season etc it's almost always when they score something like 8.20=68 or something ridiculous like that. It would appear as if their tactic is to just dominate possession. Grab the ball, hold on to it, give a half hearted kick at goal, then dominate possession again. Alternatively it could just be their opposition just give up a heap of rushed behinds to break the possession from the eagles. Am i wrong in my observations of this?
LordAnubis Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Ok well it turns out theres some statistics on this... The highest goal kicker kennedy also has the highest amount of points, and the most marks, so it seems the team does a good job of getting the ball to him, then he misses all the goals. As a team the eagles have the second best goals kicked against points kicked ratio at 1.39 goals per behind. Fremantle is better at a ratio of 1.40. The eagles also have the highest points scored in the competition so far. They have scored a total of 1001 points, with second place being hawks at 962 and third place being the pie at 881. That's pretty impressive! As a team the eagles seem to be hammering the points in! Going off averages, obviously they should beat any team in the league based on the average number of goals and behinds they score per game..... interesting!!

Yeap both the WA teams continue to sneak under the radar over on the east coast, even though they're in the top 2 spots. I'm just not sure yet which of them will be playing Collingwood in the GF!!!
LordAnubis Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 West Coast actually has a pretty easy fixture this year.... they are playing a lot of the bottom 8 sides. I would say they are an easy top 4 going into the finals. How they go from there will be all about their confidence level i would say.

The Magpies have had a similar easy start. we've only played one decent side so far, adelaide, and they thumped us. If there's any proof in the pudding, it wont be found until we play the hawks, swans, dockers and eagles!
CossackCarl Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 As much as I reckon Nic Nat is overrated, he had a cracker of a game. That mark will take some beating. The guy he jumped over is 200cm!!!!! If he keeps producing performance like that my opinion will change. On a side note. Nat Fyfe is getting even better!!!! Had a 40 possession game. I saw a stat that he had averaged 0.9 Blownlow votes per game before this season (3rd highest average of all time). Good effort for a young guy

Game on!
Duxnutz Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Just back onto the subject of Carlton..... I'm not a Blues supporter, but after all he's done for the game (loved to hate him when he's was with the Weagles - they were truly a powerhouse) I think it's pretty crass and disrespectful to give him the boot halfway through the season. Sure the Dees have done it, but I have a lot of respect for Mick. 2
Coolio Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Hi Coolio, you've also played Richmond. PS. I'm a Gold Richmond member...just sayin'. Game on! Like I said Bill, we've only played one decent side. Adelaide! 1
westg Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 My wife is a proud Richmond supporter ...what a thrill...awesome win ...go Tigers.. have been to a few Richmond games and Tiger supporters rock they really are a great bunch who get behind there team..and that's coming from a weagles supporter 1

I caught the second half of the game. I think the Dockers were genuinely surprised at how the Tigers came out attacking and scoring the first 4 goals of the game and I guess they were playing 'catch-up football' thereafter. Tigers are currently 5th on the ladder and it will be interesting to see how they go from here, especially if they can be relatively injury-free with their core players.
JohnS Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh allegedly murdered by son UPDATE: ADELAIDE Crows coach Phil Walsh has allegedly been murdered in his Somerton Park home by his 26-year-old son. Police were called to an address on Bungey Ave at 2am on Friday morning where they found the body of the 55-year-old, who was in his first season as Adelaide coach after a 20-year career as an assistant. He had received multiple stab wounds. Police later confirmed the son, Cy Walsh, had been charged with his father’s murder. “Ambulance crews immediately rendered first aid and tried to resuscitate (him) but unfortunately he died shortly afterwards,” police superintendent Des Bray said. “His wife also suffered a wound. Police were able to establish that at around about 2 o’clock, the son of the family had attended (the house). There’d been an argument — I can’t tell you anything (about the) argument or the circumstances — but as a result of that, both Mr Walsh and his wife received the wounds. “As I understand the son ordinarily lives there. Somebody from the house has called triple zero. “We can’t speak to the son at this stage. As the investigation unfolds, I’m sure we’ll find out what happened. It’s just a terrible, tragic event.” Walsh’s 26-year-old son was found by police in the neighbouring suburb of Glenelg East, arrested and taken for psychiatric assessment at the Flinders Medical Centre. Walsh’s wife, Meredith, is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries, reportedly to her leg. Their 22-year-old daughter is at summer camp in the US. In a statement, the Adelaide Crows said: “The Adelaide Football Club is devastated at the sudden passing of senior coach Phil Walsh in the early hours of this morning. “We ask if you could please respect the privacy of his family, as well as our players, coaches and staff, at this extremely difficult time.” The club will hold a press conference later today. Phil Walsh and wife Meredith. Source: Facebook Walsh had led the Crows to a 7-5 record this season after making the switch from crosstown rival Port Adelaide, where he served as an assistant in 2014 after returning to South Australia. Walsh, from country Victoria, played 122 games in the AFL for Collingwood, Richmond and Brisbane, mostly as a wingman. His first coaching job was in strength and conditioning at Geelong, before he moved to Port Adelaide as an assistant in 1999 and was Mark Williams’ right hand man as the Power claimed its maiden AFL premiership in 2004. In 2009 he moved to West Coast as an assistant under John Worsfold before moving back to Adelaide to rejoin the Power last year. Adelaide Crows champion and current board member Mark Ricciuto said the Adelaide playing group — which had to deal with the death of assistant coach Dean Bailey to cancer last year — was informed of the news at 7am. “Imagine what they’re going through,” he told Triple M. “When you’re a coach of a club you’re a father figure for forty-odd lads from the age of 18 to early thirties. Those lads will be going through a fair bit of grief at the moment. “It is hard to understand how in two days time they’re going to play a footy match. If it does go ahead, you wonder how they’ll go. I played in a game three days after my cousin died and that was pretty tough. Some people can get through it and some can’t. So it will be interesting to see how the Adelaide Football Club players handle it.” Phil Walsh with his wife and children, including Cy (top). Source: Facebook Veteran Adelaide AFL journalist Michelangelo Rucci told FIVEaa he was in disbelief after hearing the news. “I’m speechless, bewildered ... A person that so many of us knew so well, I just can’t understand how this can happen,” Rucci said. “People who knew Phil Walsh will be waking up today in just absolute disbelief, just staggered, that has happened. This is an extraordinary bit of news.” When asked how the Crows will deal with the situation, Rucci said: “No one’s ever faced a situation like this. This is without precedent. There are going to be so many people who have to be counselled. So many people who will have to lead while dealing with this tragedy. “It is bewildering to think just how this has happened. “There are many things that will have to play out over the next 24 hours in football.” Police at the murder scene in Somerton Park. Picture: Campbell Brodie. Source: News Corp Australia A police detective and officer at the scene. Picture: Campbell Brodie. Source: News Corp Australia Inaugural Crows coach Graham Cornes described Walsh as a man determined to make a difference to the lives of young men. “He was a country boy who went to the city to play footy and he was a footballer first and foremost but then he developed and matured and he thought a lot more seriously about football,” Cornes told FIVEaa. “He had a great football mind, a thirst for leaning and self-improvement. We didn’t see enough of him. He was really intelligent. He spoke so well and it’s so tragic to think of the circumstances but the first time I heard him speak was at Dean Bailey’s funeral, his close friend, and I just couldn’t believe how well he spoke without any notes. “He wanted to make a difference and when he got his opportunity as a senior coach you could just see him flourish. It was almost as if he was bursting with ideas and wanted to make an impression and an impact on these young men’s lives. The more I saw of him the more I was impressed with him.” North Melbourne great David King said football had lost a great man. “This is a dead set tragedy,” King said. “Football has lost a great person. “We’ve lost a great man. It’s so sad ... The football is irrelevant at this point. That is the least of our worries. We’ve lost one of our own. “He was a different individual, Phil. He used to rise at 2am and start work about 3am. He loved his job and he was loving life at the Adelaide Crows. Watching the scenes on Channel 9, it’s hard to fathom.” Phil Walsh at Crows training. Source: News Corp Australia Walsh only decided to take the senior coaching job at the Crows after a near-death experience in Peru in 2012. He was hit by a bus and left with a fractured pelvis and collarbone. The accident had a major impact on Walsh’s outlook on life. He asked his wife to return and photograph the intersection and kept the photo as the desktop on his laptop as a reminder to be positive. He stopped drinking alcohol, started to learn to speak Japanese and began riding a bicycle to work every day. The AFL said this morning its thoughts were with the Adelaide Football Club, its staff, coaches and players. It will await a discussion with the Adelaide Crows about whether Sunday’s game — at 3.20pm at Adelaide Oval against Geelong — will go ahead. Only when it has had that formal discussion with the Crows will the AFL consider whether the game will be postponed. It seems impossible to think the tight-knit group of Adelaide players would be able to play only days after the murder of their coach. There is no precedent for the murder of an AFL coach in football, which puts both the Crows and the AFL in uncharted waters. The league said it would issue a statement about Walsh’s passing in coming hours. — with Jon Ralph Source: http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/adelaide-crows-coach-phil-walsh-allegedly-murdered-by-son/story-fndv7pj3-1227426317589
JohnS Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I woke up a little later than usual to find out that Adelaide Crows' coach, Phil Walsh has been murdered in the early hours of this morning. I can't imagine the AFL going ahead with the Adelaide-Geelong game this weekend. Naturally, I am in shock at this turn of events, especially as it is quite unprecented in the world of Professional Sport.
Coolio Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 Yes a very tragic event John, and you really feel for his wife, daughter and his footy boys. His daughter apparently is travelling home from overseas. The AFL have cancelled the Adelaide v Geelong game on Sunday. I think the game tonight, along with the remaining games this weekend will be very sombre, with this event heavy on the mind of all players and spectators.
JohnS Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Yes I agree. I've read later on this afternoon that Geelong agreed to share the two points with Adelaide. This is an incredibly magnanimous gesture considering that Geelong are currently just outside the top 8. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-07-03/live-gillon-mclachlan-to-face-the-media-at-145pm-aest

dicko Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Sick of these "honourable losses". Pies have a decent record against the west coke eagles so see what happens on the weekend.
westg Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I reckon Nathan will be punching the living Christ out of the coaches box Ben 1
dicko Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 He's not as good for a spray as he has been. Been a bit soft on the players lately really.
westg Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 To all you dirty rotten Collingwood supporters .....nothing better than wiping the floor with you. Cheers Nathan ....
