Pies not going too bad, makes a nice change at the Gabba. I think we can win this one Coolio. Time to think about the cigar challenge from Westg Go Pies!

Just back onto the subject of Carlton..... I'm not a Blues supporter, but after all he's done for the game (loved to hate him when he's was with the Weagles - they were truly a powerhouse) I think it

Great win today by the eagles ...A case of good prevailing over evil...That hit by Silvagni on Cripps 70m of the ball is about as average as you can get ..He is looking at an extended holiday from th

Definitely, I hope the AFL market it more, the fact that we've got two guys so close to milestone that one day may disappear from the game due to modern-day professionalism and the pace of the game. The same is true of NRL, where similarly, the average NRL player chalks up 50 games and about a 4 year career in First Grage Rugby League.

It was a big win by Collingwood last night.

Not convincing at all though. St Kilda were poor except for the first 15 mins.

I don't rate the Pies at all this season. Buckley pre game was offering excuses for our poor skill levels in brisbane (he blamed dew) and against adelaide (he blamed the crows pressure), but last night our skills were no better against a poor opposition.

Cloke cant kick straight inside the 50, and cant handle more than 1 opponent. he needs to play at centre half forward. he played up the ground against the lions and was killing them. he can outrun just about anybody and has a booming kick. i just don't understand buckleys insistence to play him at ff.

unless we get our injured players sidebottom, greenwood and reid etc back, and dont lose any more senior players to injury, we will finish outside the 8 imho!

I thought the Giants played well this evening despite losing to the Swans. The Port Adelaide-North Melbourne game was a thriller with the Power triumphant only at the very end.

I watched the Swans-Hawks game last night in the 2014 Grand Final rematch at the MCG. Honestly, I don't know how the Swans won 73-69. What an incredible game...sure, not one for the purists due to the many stoppages. The statistics favoured Hawthorn and they were the better team for at least 2 1/2 quarters, but Sydney somehow won.

I had my heart in my mouth multiple times and I rang my Dad after the game. He told me he had to shut the TV off for fear of having a heart attack!

I thought it was a good game ..Cyril almost stole it back for them in the dying seconds ...lets not forget his magical moments in the game though ...Fremantle keep rolling on.. As a weagles supporter , well happy to smile with another win.. and poor old Mick the forks are out and the pie is getting smaller...I wonder if they will let him take the blues to Sydney ...

Agree. A great example of two evenly matched teams last night. The Hawks went oh so close with Breust missing that shot from in front, then Rioli fumbling the crumb. Great footy.

I went to the Pies v Suns game and while the Pies played well, half the Suns 1sts were sitting in front of me in the stand with injuries. Have to feel for them a bit.

Carlton are a rabble at the moment aren't they Westy. Goes to show no matter how experienced the coach is, if your administration isn't in order, the players won't give the effort needed. I cant believe those comments from a few weeks ago about rebuilding and how no players were off the trade table. Is it any wonder they're getting smashed? I don't think sacking the coach is going to make them play any better at all.

it must be a concern for the afl that so many games this season are blow-outs - it certainly seems that way, though i have done the actual figures. makes it as boring as hell.

this round, one close game - with only two to go - one of a margin of four goals (not really that close) and the rest thrashings.

for whatever reason, the NRL and the super rugby seem to have a much higher percentage of closer games.

mind you, the mental muppets in charge of rugby seem determined to find every possible way to piss off their fans.

You have to feel for the Suns with so many players injured. I agree that not even Mick can pull off miracles with the Blues...they need a change of direction, even as experienced as their coach is.

Blowouts margins of 10 goals or more is no fun but the average game I would think would have a 4 to 6 goal difference. Often these games are close until late in the third quarter or even the last quarter. This round's blowouts though have not been entertaining.

It's nice to see GWS come good this season after developing their young squad in the last few years.

Listened to the game over here in the sandpit. Amazing game but my pulse rate doesn't handle radio well.... Which is why we have CPDLC Coolio!!! Bahaha.

As long as you remember you get your footy scores from me and level changes from ATC, and not the other way round! Good win by the Demons as well. You'd be happy Dux.

There have been a few blowouts, but it's been interesting this season in that a couple of the sides I expected at the start of the year to be on the receiving end, have actually been winning a few games (GWS, Bulldogs, Melb). I don't think the percentage for and againsts are that unusual for this stage of the season, with only 3 teams at or around 150%.

What would be worrying for the AFL would be the lack of depth at some of the clubs. Have a look at the Suns - they've got a half a dozen top line players out and they don't look like beating anybody. Apart from when they smashed the Lions, their last 4 losses have been by at least 10 goals or more. You'd have to ask is 18 teams too many, because it doesn't look like there enough top flight players to go round.

Games like the Hawks v Swans on the weekend have been scarce so far this season which must be of concern to everybody.

I blame the umpires!

White maggots.

by coincidence, i have the abc's offsiders program on in the background and roy masters has just asked clarkson if 18 teams has spread the talent too thin. clarkson was careful in his response but you get the feeling he knows that the comp is too stretched.

Yeap it's an often talked about topic since GWS and the Suns came in. I didn't see the Offsiders yesterday, if that was Alistair Clarkson you're referring to Ken, he must have been in an interesting mood after losing a close game the night prior!

it was alistair clarkson. only had it on in the background and caught bits but he seemed fine. nice time to have him on. must have been agreed pre program. perhaps he wants to get into commentary.

Here we go. You and Westy in a Dockers v Eagles rumble!

Could be a good case for an all west GF this year. Both teams are playing well. They're not talking much about Freo over on the east coast. I think the media here are more concerned with Malthouse and those drug cheats at Windy Hill.

Actually they're rarely in white these days. If at all. Makes it hard to make up a new name for them!

Green tree frogs?

Yellow canaries?

Pink flamingos?

"You white maggot" was just so appropriate and so easily rolled off the tongue.

I've seen far worse abuse coming from a family of Carlton idiots though. They were sitting in front of me. The two mid 30 yo brothers and their two 5-10yo sons. Right from the start of the game the two dads had turned on their team.

"Judd you useless so and so. Murphy you gutless coward. Gibbs you 'insert far more derogatory term""

About half way through the last qtr, finally one of the kids says something like "oh come on Kreuzer, you're really slow"

One of the dads turned to his son and said "son if you talk like that again about our players, I'll never bring you to the footy again"

I was flabbergasted!

Poor old Mick... I hope he parks up with a nice media role on Fox ...and they pay him a **** load of money..Good luck to him..

Alas, Westy, it had to happen. Very few coaches could survive the way Carlton are playing now and Mick has plenty of company when it comes to great and/or successful AFL coaches who've had their services terminated.

Mick will survive...in fact, I agree that a media career would be ideal for him.

He took west coast to two premierships ,,we will always love him for that.... been well over 10 years and when he walks the boundary line here in W.A ...at matches the crowd still applauds him... West Coast were a power house under Mick..He holds the record for most games coached AFL/VFL...what a legacy

Posted

You have to feel sorry for Mick, as he hasn't forgotten how to coach. Carlton have been a laughing stock off the field (and now on it) for a while now. Eddie McGuire must be giggling himself to sleep each night!

A huge congratulations for Dustin Fletcher on Saturday night to rack up 400 AFL games...even though Essendon went down to Richmond 72-59. He is only the third player do so after Kevin Bartlett (403) and Michael Tuck (426). Brent Harvey should become the next player to reach the magic 400 game milestone as he has 393 games under his belt after Round 9 this season.
