Dispence Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Big fan of the screwcap, but some vintners still insist on a cork. Most European wines still have a cork. I've used 3 of the methods in the video, plus the shoe method. This is my personal favorite way to Saber: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4-6RlDTRfTU I used to do that at the table in restaurants where I worked... Here's the shoe method for those not familiar: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8EZZVIyVeQI
PapaDisco Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Ha! When I drink for all the wrong reasons I want a screwcap . . . When I drink for all the right reasons I want a proper cork!
JohnS Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 The tonging method is awesome if you like bits of glass with your wine!
Ken Gargett Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 i must say that having seen thousands of wines under cork and thousands of wines under screwcap, there is no comparison in terms of which is the better seal. cork can be perfect but screwcap almost always is. cork so often utterly disappoints. beyond me why anyone would choose cork (yes, marketing etc).
Trevor2118 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Screwcap....by a mile! I cellar red wines for at least 10 years after release......this exacerbates cork problems.
MIKA27 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 The shoe method I've seen is pretty cool should you not have a screw cap or bottle opener
