I will be in the Bay Area in late March for a few days. Will have a Saturday and most of a Sunday free.

Any BOTL's either (1) wanna get together for a smoke or (2) recommend a good B&M to visit while there?

Primarily will be staying in San Rafael area for some meetings but will be able to get into the city on Sat and Sun.

Will you make it down to TX? We'll be at the condo from the 26 th to April 3.

A quick breeze through but not long enough I'm afraid.

Might be available for a meetup, not sure of my schedule yet. As far as B&Ms go, Telford's is near where you are staying. Large selection, but a tad overpriced. They usually have all the TAA releases if you're into that. Napa Valley Wine and cigars (name may be slightly different) is a cool little shop. Slim selection but you can smoke there and enjoy wine and beer.

CA prices are too high - I wouldn't buy anything here.

As for a great place to enjoy a smoke, I repeat my favorite: Occidental Cigar Bar in San Francisco.

I am traveling overseas most of March, otherwise I would join you for a smoke there :(

Believe me, I spent four years in LA so I'm quite aware on pricing in Cali. I will be bringing my own and buying some just to be a good patron of whatever shop I end up smoking at. I do plan on hitting occidental on a day in the city. Thanks.

Does telfords have a lounge to smoke?

I might be able to join you for a smoke. I live in SF but actually work in San Rafael. PM if you want. As far as B&Ms go, there's a quaint shop in San Anselmo called Ludwig's. Small humidor but great selection of htf NC cigars. About a 5 minute drive from San Rafael. They also have one of the best selections of scotch in the Bay Area and prices are very reasonable (the cigars can be pricey though).

Cool, lets see how things shape up as we get closer. I will definitely look this one up for Friday evening after dinner as I will in San Rafael for meetings and dinner - thanks!

+1 and they pour some great HTF drams

Only downside to Occidental is their egregious prices (at least in my opinion). I think Oban 14 is around $20 and the pour is small. Lagavulin 16 was like $24.

It depends on how drunk the bartender is - I've walked or rather stumbled out of there a few times with a lot of scotch in my belly for about $50. They pour without using a measuring device ;)

Happy to meet up for a cigar or two while you're in town. I'm in downtown SF, but, can travel if needed. As for telfords, they have a front porch that you can smoke on as usually the weather is pretty nice.

I don't really post here much but lurk alot :)

I'm always down to get together for a herf! I am in the east bay in the tri valley area but definitely do not mind driving. Please keep me in the loop!

By Bay Area, do you mean the beautiful, pristine waters of the Galveston Bay ecosystem or the slightly more well known San Fransisco Bay Area? jester.gif

Ha! I was referring to the latter. Lived in Houston over 2 years and only made it to Galveston once. Went a lot as a young man.

Well folks.....my wife's crazy travel plans landed her in SoCal last week or so so she decided to hang out and drive up and meet me in San Fran for the weekend. As much as she likes to smoke, doubt our first weekend together in the area will have much herfing involved. I will report back if so as I do want to hit Occidental for at least one smoke. We shall see. Cheers!

If you come into the City, then besides the Occidental you should try the Cigar Bar & Grill on Montgomery and Pacifi. You can walk there from the Occidental in about 10 minutes. Occidental is very small but I do like it and the folks there, but as Dan sez, it can sometimes be a tad low on the drink-value spectrum.

Cigar Bar is a combination indoor/outdoor venue with a large, sheltered courtyard. Live music in the evenings, and in the famous/infamous North Beach neighborhood. Take the wife for dinner two blocks away at Tosca's on Columbus avenue (new chef, new menus, small and charming and getting rave revues). Stroll over to Cigar Bar for a courtyard smoke and music after dinner and your lady won't be overwhelmed with the second hand smoke.

Awesome suggestion. Thanks.
