polarbear Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Having just watched the conclusion of the first show I've intently followed in years, I was wondering what some of the members around here thought of the wrap up Firstly, if you haven't watched it yet, go away and do so as there will be some spoilers here. You've been warned I, for one, was pretty happy with the way things wrapped up. I knew Jax was never going to make it out alive, especially after what went down during season 7 and the rage he was carrying. I remember about halfway through the season thinking that there was no way to settle everything and give the show a happy ending at the same time. A show that began with blood was always going to end with blood, and blood there was, buckets of it. I find that its getting more and more difficult in this day and age to wrap up a long running show and leave the fans feeling satisfied, some get it right (breaking bad) others... not so much (How I Met Your Mother) but SOA managed to keep it simple a beautiful (in its own way) I doubt there were any viewer who were surprised with the way things went down and how the architecture of the series was left following the event of season 7, but it was still tied up nicely with Jax going out the same way that his father did and perhaps finally finding peace. After the bloodshed of Episode 12 with Unser, Juice and Gemma all going down, I thought the final ep would just be an emotional wrap up (similar to GOT and the Red Wedding ep) but there was action a plenty and the club was able to bring their final pieces of the puzzle together to ensure a relative peace between the clubs in Charming. It took 7 years, and a lot of blood, but the vision Jax had for the club (legitimate businesses, peace within Charming, better life for his family) finally came to fruition. I am sad to see the show go, as it was one of the few pieces of entertainment I have followed from day one, enjoying every new episode more than the last, but if it was going to end I'm just happy they went out on (what is in my opinion) a high note. Also, the swan song for the final 7 minuets of the show is one of the more haunting pieces of original music I have heard in years. It was written by the shows creator especially for the final. You can hear it again here- http://www.rollingstone.com/music/premieres/hear-sons-of-anarchy-finale-song-20141209
warren516 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I thought the finale was amazing and I have to watch it again. Like you mentioned, the symbolism of Jax going out the same as his father was fitting.
tmac77 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Anyone notice that the driver of the truck was the same one that ran Gemma off the road a couple of seasons back. Never was a fan of Gemma. I felt her character carried way too much weight in the goings on of the club and that she should have been killed off much earlier in the series. I guess with Katy Sagal being a producer she had a fair amount of say in Gemma's role. Still all in all a decent finale albeit a bit of a quick wrap up.
MPS Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Well done finale but the last few seasons kinda dragged on. The first few seasons were great.
laficion Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I never liked the serie, but I guess that's because I'm French. I honestly think It's like looking at an old man's version of, "The Young and Restless" but Instead,It's old men playing around with bikes and telling themselve that It's Inportant. I for one, never liked the cigars either. Guy
Briand Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Was a great show! Kurt Sutter has made 2 great shows in a row and I am really looking forward to seeing his new series Bastard Exacutioner
Mr.T Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I loved this series. What an incredible cast. And I loved the soundtrack to the entire show. The finale...well I liked it but truthfully I thought the previous episode was much better. The finale I found too scripted and lacking the emotion and staying power of the previous one...overall loved this show Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
HabanoHam Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I really enjoyed the finale! I was wondering if anybody knew who the homeless woman was or what she symbolized when she gave Jax the blanket at the courthouse before killing August? Also did anybody notice any symbolism of the bread and wine she drank appearing in the final scene in conjunction with how Jax's body was postured before he collided with Milo's truck?

She always showed up when bad things were about to happen and iirc interacted with those that diedI loved this series and had a hard time deleting the last episode from my dvr...cue sad trumpet I thought the finale was great, a bit over the top with the symbolic close since symbolism was never really part of the show but sutter went for an epic end to an epic character. I'm just surprised by two things...tig never died and I still never understood a word chibs said lol

I still haven't deleted it, I think I'm gonna watch it once more on Sunday and keep it on standby for a while. Definitely a surprise about Tig, especially after killing Opie's wife and Pope's daughter.

Fosgate Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I for one liked the series but the trip to Ireland slowed it down for me. Growing up with relatives in MC's and law enforcement gave me a perspective how they link. With that said though two things bothered me, how they seemed to serve such little time and such a small crew of bikers seemed to have so much power. They Should have had at least 30 extra bikers walking around, coming and going and see maybe guys of these crews getting pinched or hassled by LEO's more often. Second, was the attitude how everyone seemed to have puppy dogs eyes talking all sincere all the time. I mean, I do not recall one fight between members just to fight or something to do. Prospect hazing was a minimum. I could predict how Jax was going to go out in the first couple seasons how they kept stating how they want to break the cycle and they talked about how his dad died in detail more than once. Then they confirmed it as the series end came closer. However, The last episode got me lumped up as he talked to others and prepared for his own demise as you knew it was coming. Also, it was a lot better ending than the Sopranos left us with.
