One of my favorite activities. Went to Colorado around Breckenridge a few years ago. Hoping to make it to Moab sometime in the future. I love my old FJ80 but it's gas mileage makes smoking cigars seem like a cheap hobby. We can also run the rivers when the water is down. A fun summer activity.

Very cool. I have an old YJ for playing and getting around to the camps and putting my 14' fishing boat in the tuff spots.

Hey Paul...

Great to see you here, missed you on Expeditionportal.com lately or just haven't see your post. That Baja trip was great and your rig is still looking good.

I hope my son's talk about traveling with me someday in the future the way you mentioned your trip with your dad....good times.

Nice Samuel,

The 80 series are great rigs and not sure if you are on the forum I mentioned or ih8mud.com but great info on both when it comes to trips for your rig and ways to get the most out of it.

Just to rub in a wound, when I was in Oz I got to drive a turbo diesel 80 with barn doors in the back, great rig getting amazing mpg...or km per liter in that case :)

Good to see there are folks who enjoy getting off the asphalt and looks like it will be fun to post up future trip reports and include the cigars smoked when & where !!

Oh and you USA folks need to make sure you are in the USA section, we are having fun over there.

My wife and l love it.

Drove all night from Tennessee to a little town up from Telluride Co called Ophir. It is about 9600ft above see level.

There is a pass from Ophir that you can take over to the town of Silverton Co. The pictures dont do this "road" justice!

Very cool, Lance, thanks for sharing.

Used to have a supped / souped up Jeep YJ Wrangler, and did lots of mud bogging and rock crawling adventures with it. Been thinking of getting another one recently, and your post has got me thinking.

I went to school in Colorado and spent a lot of time 4 wheeling, exploring the old mining trails, ghost towns, driving through the mountains, etc. I loved every minute of it. I really miss it now that i live out east.

Man, I love this thread!

While I truly love exploring and off-roading, I still take it easy (relatively) as I drive my main bread-getter everywhere.

Living on the eastern slopes of the Albertan Rockies, I have access to some supreme trails & spots. I'll have to dig through the camera roll & post some of the more memorable spots & times

Colorado has some epic places to go play...

I have family and friends all over the state but spead most of our time in the SW corner of the state.

Fun trails, great small town food & drinks, amazing camping spots and most important a cool place to escape our insane summer temps in Phoenix :)
