And to top it all off. I'm not allowed to fly my little 2 seater bug smasher between Friday and Monday because they've basically shut down all the little airports within 90nm of Brisbane.

There will be a police car stationed on the field at Caboolture airport to enforce this. The poor bugger is going to be hot sitting in his car at Caboolture, with no sea breeze, and temps around 36-38 degrees!

just saw this brief internet news report in an email that arrived. usual stuff but then have a look at the last line. holy crap! just a throwaway line at the end of the report but if genuine, the potential consequences...

OBAMA, PUTIN SPEAK FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE JUNE “President Obama had his first face-to-face conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin since June on Tuesday, seeking to make headway on their bitter standoff over the conflict in Ukraine. The two leaders, whose relations have turned icy over Moscow’s backing of separatist violence, spoke three times for a total of 15 to 20 minutes on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum here. Their discussions also included nuclear negotiations with Iran and the security situation in Syria, said Bernadette Meehan, spokeswoman for the National Security Council. She did not elaborate on the outcome of the talks.” Putin also allegedly hit on China’s first lady.

Out of curiosity has anyone else experienced a G 20 Summit in your City in the past?

Yes... A couple years back there was the G 20 in Toronto.... It was chaos.. Multiple Police cars were set on fire, store windows were shattered, cars windows broken left right and centre... There was so much vandalism going on... They had to throw tear gas into the crowds to disperse them. They also set up make shift prisons on the city streets, and were arresting people....

I worked a G-8 Summit in Sea Island Georgia (USA) several years back. Sea Island is a less populated area so there seemed to be more law enforcement and military than people who lived there. I was on a detail that had access to the inner sanctum and it was interesting to see the luxury provided for our great leaders. The opulence was staggering, even for the support staff and media. It is fascinating to see all of the layers of security from the inner rings where everything is peaceful and quiet so the great ones are not disturbed out to the outer layers of basic local law enforcement who deals with the angry natives protesting in the streets.

Fantastic show of power for something that could be handled via teleconference. But hey, it is a great vacation.

The summit in Toronto was a slice. Remind me, what do all the heads of state accomplish at these events?

Financial agendas, war-planning, prostitution rental, secret handshakes, and a general mistrust of other like-minded criminals.
