Popular Post ChanceSchmerr
....My wife headed out to Legoland with friends for a couple of days today. I'm on my own until Friday.... After class, I took my Canadian classmate and headed out into London. First we stopped into The Whisky Exchange to pick up a couple of whisky journals for xmas gifts for friends back home. Of course, hard to go there without picking up a dram, so I snagged a hard-to-find bottle of 1995 Longrow 10 yr. Looking forward to giving that bottle a taste! Next, we grabbed the tube over to St. James, so I could show my friend what a REAL B&M cigar shop is like. We walked into JJ Fox, and I was immediately at home. Had a nice long conversation with the gent working the shop - he's apparently a big fan of the new LE's, but I had to pass, considering the price point. I did pick up a few treasures - they had stocked up more aged cigars since I was there last. 1974 Monte 5 1997 Boli PC's (4) 1997 Boli Corona (2) 2001 RA 898 (2) 1980 RYJ Très Petit Corona and a 1999 VR Familiar, against my better judgement. I guess I'll give them one more try before I condemn them to the "never smoke" category Then up to the smoking lounge. I smoked first one of the Boli PC - started a bit harsh, but I was soon rewarded with a delicious smoke. These are really delightful with some age - strength has become nuanced delivery of cream and spice cookie. I paired it with a few little bottles of whisky from TWE - Ledaig 10 yr, Longrow and Kilchoman Machir Bay. I then finished with a Ramon Allones Especial de Allones RE Francia - absolutely fantastic. Definitely worth a box purchase if I can find it. Now, I'm home to make a grilled cheese, before a little homework and that Monte #5 1974. I think I'll finish the evening with a LGC Inmensa that I bought to try in Amsterdam, and then I'll stay up late to watch game 7 of the World Series. Now THAT's what I call a good day

torsion
JJFOX is a really cool shop, a real sense of nostalgia every time I've walked in there knowing that's where Sir Winston used to get his smokes! I'll have to remember to check out their aged stock, didn't think of it back in August when I was there! Some really great sticks and scotch there!
