I post this question as it formed part of a response to an e-mail earlier today. I would love your input.

What are the characteristics of young QD Imperiales?

What are the characteristics of aged (6 years + ) QD Imperiales?

To your tastes, what are the differences (if any) that you detect? thinking.gif

Here are my comments from various QdO's smoked this year.

So for '13 & '14 they are very similar to the coronas. Toasted tobacco, lovely citrus twang in kind of a keylime pie or lemon merengue sort of way, and a bit of bite.

I've had some '06s that oozed creamy nougaty toasted tobacco, the same citrus qualities but much smoother some of the best QdO I personally have had.

I've had some '01 with the darkest wrappers on a QdO you've ever seen. We're talking LE material here. They were just ok. For my taste this marca benefits from the light wrappers

Am I the only one that gets a little paprika taste out of QdO? Similar to what I get from Dip 4...

Not a fair question rob. Factory change in 06 drastically changed the cigar.

Can you expand on this comment Eddie? I'm interested to know, IYO of course, how the cigar changed and whether it was for the better or worse. Can you also explain the "factory change"? Cheers!

Smoked a n 07 Imperiales just yesterday. It was magnificent toasted tobacco, with a strong spicy accent. Of course the taste had married yhroughout the cigar, giving it that taste when you kniw a cigar is hitting it's peak.

I enjoy them tremendously as a change pace from the ubiqutous Monte, Party, Boli, RA line-up
