kuma Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Just received a box from our host about a week ago. I always pull a cigar from the newly received box and give it a try just to see how they smoke. Well even though this has a date of 2013 which means it is not that young I thought it should be pretty lip smacking good! This is also one of the PSP boxes from Rob's LFTW program. Here goes; Used Palio cutter wanted to be sure and get a good cut, cut was good time to light. Used torch to make sure and get a good burn. What I noticed when lighting the cigar was it felt really good in my hand and it also was packed and rolled very well. Draw was smooth not to tight not to loose. A very medium body smoke with hints of noguat and chocolate sweetness coupled with a huge amount of smoke. Middle part a bit of vanilla essence with some spice (pepper) thrown in. Last part cigar has some leather and a hint of cocoa sweetness. A harmonious mild to med. cigar. Rated this smoke between 92 - 95! 1
Phillys Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Those POU (HQ or PSP) Monte 4s are outstanding.
imangelo Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I've been fortunate to have great luck with the Monte 4s. Can't say the same for the 2s...
Ramrod918 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I have had some terrible 4s glad u got some good ones!
Webbo Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Tried a few, never had a good one. What should I look for when picking up a single of these?
RijkdeGooier Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Webbo, There are a few clues when picking up singles: 1. Construction - roll the cigar between your fingers to check for consistent roll and absence of hard spots. 2. Look at the foot and smell the foot - this might be able to tell you something, esp re sweetness.
CanuckSARTech Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 This is one cigar to me that really validates the PSP/HQ program. Nice review. Amen brother!!!!!
