Need some help for some good books on Cuban cigars. Would like to learn everything there is to know about the planting, harvest and production of cuban cigars. Also the history around the names, the families and such. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Charles Todesco's "the Havana Cigar" has a lot of info on the history and process of making havanas.

For brand history, and all around information for the cuban cigar afficianado regarding the cigars themselves, there is nothing quite like Min Ron Nee's "Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars"

The holy grail....damn hard to find and not many in print recently re-released with new inclusions. Prex might know if they are coming downunder...

Mel - PM sent.

A second edition is just getting around - (basically an edit of the 1st ed. as I understand it.)

I know of one source, as I know many others here are. Feel free to PM me for info.

We have Min Ron N ees book here at the store if anyone would like to purchase a copy. Not cheap but the definitive book.

No one book covers all. Those already listed are excellent..

I have a book called "The Havana Cigar" by Gerard per et Fils. It is more of a love letter to the cigars and the romanticism than an expostion on the subject.

Beautifully photographed though.

Got a copy of this and must say that the photographs are excellent and from matching up sticks to those in the book are in real size format...a good book...but would agree that is very romanticised.

we did this a year or so ago so there would be recommendations in an earlier thread, if you can find it.

min ron nee's is my fav by a mile tho he does suggest that almost every cigar every made needs at least three decades ageing before you even think about smoking it. then give it another decade and you might be allowed to try one.

have had a look at the new edition. if you have the first, i would not bother upgrading. more a reprint than a new edition. very few changes at all. more in the photos and presentation. not cheap in cuba or at rob's or anywhere but if you are serious, a must have. have seen it duty free in dubai in the cigar section but unless you are going through there or to cuba, contact rob (this recommendation my chrissy pres to el pres.

lots of others, depends on how much of a book worm you are, as they all have something to offer.
