Webbo Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 My relatively new maxi jet is now leaking through the refill valve. To send it back to where I bought it in the States from this part of Europe would be a real pain. Anyone have any tips or tricks that might fix it?
SaintLuis Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Is the leak audible? Does adjusting the valve change the leak at all?
lexvero Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I believe ST Dupont has an international warranty. So I would recommend you to take the warranty card and visit your nearest authorized dealer to get help with the issue.

I don't think you would need to send a French made lighter back to the USA to be serviced
Hash Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I thought those were built to last, you should ask for a replacement if still under warranty.
Webbo Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Just checked the warranty card in the box and it's not signed or stamped although it looks authentic. Looks like I might have been sold a fake.
Pedro2486 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Maybe contact DuPont. They may be able to verify its authenticity. Admittedly I don't know a lot about fancy lighters but I'm sure there's some good resources online to help you. Good luck mate and I hope it's all good
Lotusguy Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Maxijets don't get faked, usually. Take it to your local dealer to check.

Looks like I might have been sold a fake.I'm guessing you bought it from ebay? Anyways, just because the warranty card isn't filled out doesn't mean that the lighter is fake. There might be some fakes out there but doesn't necessary mean that yours is. What I would recommend that you do is to fill it out yourself. If it is indeed a fake then the dealer or the service center will be able to verify it by checking the serial number on the bottom. You have nothing to lose. I own such a lighter and have never had any problems with it. Bought it in Stockholm. When you fill out the fields on the card, just pick out a date and write down the name of the retailer in the states in the appropriate space. Good luck!
