Hi everyone,

I wanted to touch on the subject of how we humidify our investments, once we have received them. I am using a wineador, that holds 23 btls and it is fast becoming full with all the cigars I have recently purchased, including one from Rob & Diana just a few minutes ago.

So, I am using 4 jars of Xikar 4oz Humidification gel and also a bowl of Heartfelt beads, but my digital hygrometer is unable to show over 60% at any time. My temperature is around 16~18 Degrees Celsius.

Before I take a plunge on getting this humidifier, I would like to post it here and get feedback, if you own this model or any other electronic humidifier and your experiences.

Please help. Thank you in advance.

I have one that I used for about 9-12 months. I didnt care for it. Was never able to get hygro to read properly, even after attempting to calibrate it. And the rh tended to swing wildly. Now it sits in the corner of my closet. Would rather have spent the money on something else. Not to mention the cost, they arent cheap.

Yes, it isn't cheap. Oh well, back to the drawing board on how to keep the RH stable @ 65%. Driving me up the wall. Whenever the unit kicks in to cool down, my RH goes down, sometimes even to 50%.

Just an update. I went ahead and purchased 2 pounds of Heartfelt beads with the nylon cases. If this doesn't work, I am buggered.

If your lucky Piggy will chime in with his opinion/advice. He is a wealth of humidification information. Best of luck.

first things first ...calibrate hygrometer, then maybe add some fans.

I have a few coolers with beads and a end table humidor with 2 hydra's and the coolers are by far a lot less trouble.

But I live in Canada so temp is not as big of a deal as some of the guys in warm climate year round

Are the cigars not smoking to your liking? My 65 beads are always around 60 in my large humidor but the cigars smoke great.

I haven't really dipped into the collection yet, as I have just started cigar smoking for a month or so and the boxes I am buying and those that have already arrived are in there adjusting from their trip. And, I am planning for long term storage, so typically, I still buy singles for my daily consumption. But the ones that I have smoked which were in there for a few weeks, seem fine to me. Subtle and not dry.

My environmental temperature is somewhat controlled at 23~24 Celsius by air conditioning but when I switch them off at night, that's when I see the temperature and humidity in the wineador fluctuate considerably. I can still maintain below 19 degrees, but humidity gets to around 50%. I use a couple of Xikar Digital Hygrometers. My hygros don't have a knob to adjust so I will have to take a reading of it and manually calculate the humidity from now on.

I have 2 fans that come with the wineador. I was leaning towards getting the Hyrda's but when I was ordering it, I found out they don't ship to my country. That's why I had to look at this LV since they do ship it to me.

@SgtCohiba you can order online calibration kits(boveda makes the one I use) for your setup and a good adjustable hygro if you 're going to age is a good investment

La veil (LV), and

Cigar oasis

Are both on eBay and amazon for purchase.

Personally I dislike LV as mine died after 20 months.

I use beads and cigar oasis and fans, and a small humidifier.
