I've lived in rural Tennessee. I don't know how fair the trades are when they're purchased with lucre obtained from selling stolen copper. I guess buyer and seller are happy?

I guess 'Induced state of bliss' might be more appropriate...

Gotta love the good ol US of A. Yay for freedom lmao.gif

Who wants to volunteer to fake die so we can sue for muchos dinero and then we can all split the profits and buy muchos habanos.

I imagine we can get many lifetimes of cigars with 23.6 billion dollars.

So, who can we sue? Which company has the most money?

PS: Just to be clear it is a shame about her loss, don't mean any disrespect to her or the family, this is purely legal/political/company focussed satire.

This is just flat out theft ! Unreal

That's one hell of a decision. I worked in a cigar shop and a pulmonologist would always come in every 2 weeks or so and buy those giant LGC Serie R buy the box. He said, smokers stand about a 10% chance of getting lung cancer in general. Of course that doesn't preclude all the other miserable afflictions associated with smoking whatever they put in cigarettes these days. Interesting stuff.....regarding the meth comment....if you're on the street using it.....damn you to hell...lol! But, we have a RX for that in the US which makes it A-OK! :) It's unreal what clever marketing, propaganda (err....public affairs I mean), human factors engineering, etc., can do. ;)

hang on. the decision was made by the jury. there was an award of $16.8 mill in compensatory damages. presumably the woman (via her lawyers) also asked of punitive damages. the jury made the decision to make that award of that amount. it is insane and will surely be massively reduced on appeal (or a deal reached with the woman, though i suspect that the cigarette companies have no choice other than a public appeal to try and prevent more such claims), but you can't bag the woman for the decision of the jury. at least as far as the amount goes.
