I have a 1998 Boli PC that's plugged. I ran into a string of them years ago, this one I cut (in probably 2008) and took a preflight draw, so plugged I tossed it back in the humidor hoping to some day find a way to fix it.

Here I am, still looking for that way!

Any ideas?

Had this exact problem with an RyJ Double Corona today

Consensus around the table was to freeze it for a while (extend a bit longer than if you're killing beetles. So: 5-7 days instead of 3). restore it. then dry box it for 3 days or so.

But with something like a Mareva, it could also be wise to STEADILY use a Barbie skewer like most blokes here...

I use a poker that is made to open up tug cigar. You push it through the cut end down as fat add you need to.

The poker has a fine point then gets bigger add you go. Allot of smoke shops carry then. I got mine in Lillydale mn. You should know the need of the shop. Open until midnight Friday and Saturday nights

barbie skewer, shish kabob, single fondue hook, unfolded paper clip,

in the end, as long as it looks like this, there shan't be an issue:

The Exhibicion No.2 EL from 2000? Plugged? surprised.gif

aye. we checked it, it was more 'tight' than plugged. i felt the plug 3 cm down from the cap.

might've loosened up after lighting. but might've eased up. not taking the risk, though. onto freezing it goes! ^_^

Some suggest clipping the cap and letting it rest in the humi for a few days to a week. Test draw after 3 days, light if you like at that point, if draw has opened up.

What about dry boxing at 60rh for a few days? I do this and I don't seem to encounter plugged cigars, I suspect that dry boxing helps.

I dunno if I'd really call that dry boxing bro, I keep most of my stock between 60-62 rh anyway and, true, I don't have many plugs or tight draws. What I've read in posts on here, people dry box at 40-50rh or lower.

Not downing your methods at all, do what works for you mate

↑ well said Peter. this is exactly what I thought when I was reading the post. 60% rh doesn't really sound dry boxing. I keep my stock at around 65/65 and started to drybox before I smoke. (24-48 hrs) my emptied desktop serve me for this and it stands 40%ish rh. But still 60% rh is less than 70% rh so it could definitely cause less tight/plugged draw problems.

You can't fix a PLUGGED cigar, except by throwing it in the trash. Even if you get a draw by drilling, etc., it will smoke like crap.

I've come to the point that badly plugged sticks get tossed. Life's too short.

make it into pipe tobacco.

i used cut caps of piramides and grind them up to smoke in the briar. if you blokes keep throwing out those plugged ones, i'd make a good 3-4 bowls per plugged cigar!!

Wet the cigar. I mean really wet the wrapper. Peel off wrapper. Peel off binder. Re roll cigar. Dry for a month or so. Smoke.

It really is a fair bit of effort, but can be done. I've done a ew times but mainly i jsut cut up and smoke in a pipe. A user on another forum has created a pretty good on i'll see if he can post here or if he's happy for me to post it here.

that's what i thought. it's hard to invest in the mould when you have a different approach to plugged cigars like i do.

everywhere online uses a mould. i thought he would've done it differently with the resources at hand, naturally.

perhaps i'll just try with some PC i have lying around and see what i can do without a mould...
