Cohiba Siglo IV

Thought I would spark this one up to give me something to compare the Behike with. All in all, a good smoke. Perfect size for me. Wasn't as flavorsome as the Monte but still far more enjoyable than the non cubans.

Must have had a lucky batch as I have had no plugged cigars, no beetles, no fakes as far as I can tell. Just good, tasty cubans.

Would I buy this over a Monte? Nope.

Was worth the experience but probably my last Cohiba.

Monte #2s been smoking hot these days, and it's going to be difficult to find a cigar that can top it. Siglo IV is not less cigar than Monte #2 in my experience; it's not that great these days.

Try HdM Punch Punch, Epicure#2, JL #2. These are smoking exceptionally good in 2013-2014.

This may seem like a rational decision given your experience so far, but you're working with extremely small sample sizes. Very few cigars will outshine an "on" Monte no. 2, but I'll give you even money that your next one isn't nearly as good as your last one; huge variation from stick to stick is endemic to the Monte no. 2.

In other words, I'd take a great No. 2 over a Sig IV, but I would easily take a box of Sig IV over a box of No. 2.

Unless you get your boxes hand picked for quality, which is what I do and I have very consistent Monte 2 boxes in both taste and quality. Going back to 2009, the consistency keeps increasing.

My point is basically that one cigar should never be your last cigar of anything. Even in the hand-picked stock, these things vary immensely. If you found things you like in the Siglo IV, there's a pretty good chance that you will find more that you like in another Siglo IV. I don't write off a cigar until I've sampled at least a few different sticks from a few different boxes and even then, I only move it to the bottom of the list to be revisited at some point in the future

I smoked a couple Siglo IV's in the past, and I had wrote them off as "good, but overpriced." Last weekend, I wanted something a little flashy to smoke with a crewmate after a big regatta and I grabbed a couple of Siglo IV tubos that I got in a trade and they were absolutely out of this world. My first experience with the Monte no. 2 was a 10 box I bought blind. The first stick was amazing, as was the sixth - the rest were basically "meh." I've had better boxes since then, but I have learned my lesson about judging cigars from small sample sizes.

Put five years on each cigar and do a review then. I don't know about new Monte 2 but Cohibas with age are things of beauty.

All fair points.

What I dont get about aging Behikes is that, aren't they already aged for like 5 years?

I thought anything over 5 years starts to make the tobacco stale and bland.

I agree the HDM Epi #2 are smoking amazing from the 13 batches.

I have been lucky I guess,I have two box's of #IV and they are fantastic. I prefer those and #1 out of all the #1 being A tubo.

Looking to buy and smoke right away I agree,Punch Punch,Hoyo#2! One of my favorites are Monte.#4 but there is alot of garbage out there,I just bought A box from here and I swear I have never seen such A beautiful wraper, wished I would have bought three more!

It is scetchy buying online but I know I have found A solid place to purchase!

All the Siglo IV's I've tried were ROTT so as to aged being better I couldn't say. So far everything I've read says aged CCs are better. I've been blasting through a box of JL#2s from 2012 that are amazing!

To be honest I would continue with Cohiba, I really didn't get on with them at first and couldn't see what the higher price point was for, but I'm starting to love them now :)

Cohibas are just one of those really baffling marcas where age makes them magnificent. Just even a year from my experience (limited however it is) makes them absolutely brilliant.

That said, I don't think it's fair to compare them to Monte No. 2s since they are very hard sticks to beat when they are amazing.
