Smallclub Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Note: it's improper to say 'Name' von 'Place'. it was a title given to people of royalties back in the day like Dukes, Earls, etc [who obviously don't exist anymore]. Rarely anyone is called 'von something' anymore. But the joke was just that. I don't understand why you have to say this in this thread, but you're wrong. There are still plenty of people, noble or not, whose name contains the prefix von (van in The Netherlands).

Dmatzkin Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 Hi, i'm from Vienna too. Besides Hazards shop, i can also recommend the shop at "Westbahnhof" they have a nice selection. I can send you a pricelist of almost all the cigars, that are available here. Also, if you want, i can call the shops and ask to reserve a box of the ideales for your friend. That would be awesome!!!!! I will find out where my friend is staying in Vienna and will PM you. Thanks a million for the offer!!!

Squarehead Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I have no problems getting into the websites of Lcdh Stuttgart or the Lcdh Nürnberg(Nuremberg). Both have Prizes listed and you can get it in different languages including english. 1
Maplepie Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 but you're wrong. There are still plenty of people, noble or not, whose name contains the prefix von (van in The Netherlands). 'van' in the low countries has the same meaning as 'von'... but carries none of the implications of royalties. this is because the only people who bear the last names 'von' nowadays are people who are descendants of the nobility pre-1918 (when the Kaiser still reigned). of course, they are no longer 'noble' because the existence and titles of such vanished with the Kaiser in the revolution I don't understand why you have to say this in this thread This is true... sorry for the forced history lessons, Dan back on topic now: 1

What revolution? Have a look at the names of the german generals of WWII, specially those who tried to get rid of Hitler… And what about Hans-Adam von and zu Liechtenstein, Prince of Liechstenstein? FYI, there still is an influent aristocracy in Germany and Austria…

Kruz Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I find this topic very interesting. I will be in Amsterdam/Berlin/Prague/Vienna/Rome later in this year and have already noted the suggestion to pick up the Austrian RE. Arguments about last names aside, are there any other recommendations? 1

Lisa wrote about Amsterdam. If you are in Berlin don't miss to drop by at the Herzog am Hafen http://www.herzog-am-hafen.de/index.php?language=en&osCsid=aaeb04e201adc86152b895e6d3e15d3e He is a great host and his range of cigars is legendary and if you are lucky you find some vintage cigars. Probably you find a lot of RE/LE Prices are in Austria much higher for the cigars than in Germany. The RE JL Ideales are really worth it, I found my box in Vienna in a shop of Kurt Dohnal. Meeting with Alex will be more beneficial & more fun than my list.
