Ken Gargett Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 needless to say, the redskins have no equals when it comes to stuffing draft picks (and so much more) but this was a revelation. but wait... apparently, one year in the early 60's, they held 6th pick in first round. and with it, they picked a ... KICKER!!! what the hell???? said kicker was traded a few years later (presumably for a ham sandwich and a bic biro). at the end of his 6 year career, his % for field goals - 51%. all i can say is that it is probably an extremely good thing that we don't have a first round this year. christ knows what we would have got.
olotti Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 True Ken that is quiet the story sounds like something my Lions would do. U know we drafted Joe Harrington 3rd overall, traded up to get a guy out of football for a year in Mike Williams, then there's Charles Rodgers who just loved the weed to much oh and then two years ago we took Titus Young who literally sabotaged and did it admittadly whom is now in a psych ward somewhere. Heck this year our pick of Ebron has still left me scratching my head, good talent yes but when we have so many other needs on D this is how the Lions pick.
Ken Gargett Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 it does seem a lottery. two years ago - who'd have picked wilson to be the first of those QB's to win a superbowl. and martin, richardson or morris? wasn't even a competition. two were first rounders, one of which probably the best pick outside of the QB's, and one lucky to get picked. not to suggest martin or even richardson a bust but amazing that they have been so overshadowed by morris.
poisonowns Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The Eagles pick was some linebacker I never heard of. I was really hoping they'd get Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Here's the fans reactions... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
scottm12 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Great round for corners and safeties. Can't wait for tomorrow

titla1k Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I loved the rage from the Texans fans when the Vikings snapped up Teddy with the last pick. The Vikes have some serious 1st round talent over the past 3 years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
pbibby Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The Vikings have definitely had mostly hits in the first round recently. I'm hoping Cassel can lead for a bit until teddy proves he's ready.

I like Bridgewater as a prospect but I worry about whether his frame can withstand the rigors of the NFL. Rumor has it that his weight dropped below 190 by the end of last season. I do think, however, that from a mental standpoint the is the most NFL ready of the quarterbacks in the NFL, imo.
srbbones Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The Jets have the unusual distinction of: 1. Their picks are usually panned at the time by the fans 2. The fans always turn out to be right

I wasn't all that thrilled with the Chief's pick.

I think you're right but I'm not sure if we (fans) are ready to accept another 'Carr' as our starting quarterback. That's who I think they might grab with the first pick tonight. If so, I hope he turns out to be a lot better than his brother.
poisonowns Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Texans fans are about to be the winners of a brand new Carr! 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The Eagles pick was some linebacker I never heard of. I was really hoping they'd get Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. I'm happy with my Packers getting Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix. Mainly because his name is Ha-Ha.
khomeinist Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Bridgewater playing outdoors in MN with a weak arm. Umm. Pass. Sammy Watkins. Now that was a pick.

However, Carr back then was kind of like Sam Bradford for the Rams now. They did absolutely nothing to help him. He spent a lot of the time running for his life. I am not saying he would have been a long term answer for the team. However, a lot of people don't think they put him in the best situation to succeed. It's all a crap shoot anyway.. Joe Montana was taken in the 3rd round and Tom Brady was a 6th round pick after all.
tomj Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 As a Buffalo Bills fan...Aaron Maybin and J.P. Losman come to mind. However, getting Sammy Watkins looks like a win.
DoubleDD Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 In recent Bears history let's see.....Rex Grossman, Rashaan Salaam, and Curtis Enis. Brutal wastes of talent.
brutusthebuckeye Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Tim Couch..Gerard "Big Money" Warren...Braylon Edwards..."The Soldier" Kellan Winslow Part Dieux...."The Slight Drizzle" Courtny Brown...Butch Davis drafting a long snapper in like the 4th round...who does that?.....I could go on and on.... Go Browns!!!
thecapo Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 1994 Heath shuler, Washington Redskins. Drafted 3 rd overall, sat on bench for two seasons, played one and was traded! Lasted 7 starts and was the highest paid draft pick for a quarterback in the early 90's. Now he is in politics.
