El Presidente Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 We have many Aussie servicemen past and present who are members of FOH. For all that you have done, all that you do, we thank you. "Lest we forget" For members, tomorrow is a public holiday in Oz and wraps up our worst period of public holidays " 3 in 6 working days" Everything should be back to normal next week 2
Popular Post LordAnubis Posted April 24, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 24, 2014 I don't like to say lest we forget. I think the more important lesson on ANZAC day is to LEARN. These days we seem to be always "remembering" lives lost etc but then just going straight back into the good old war machine. Lets learn from the tradgedies of war and hope to one day be a state of peace for all of humanity. May the memories of those who have sacrificed their lives for the protection of others live on forever. 7
AndrewNR Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Had been gradually getting more involved with anzac day services. Bit strange being over seas and a day behind. Hoping next year to be at the services on the wla. Time will tell. Lest we forget

Pedro2486 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Early start tomorrow for the dawn service here in Wellington. Next year will be at Gallipoli. Did you win a place in the lottery or are you going as part of a separate tour?
dvickery Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 for me ... every day is remembrance day . to all the boys and girls who serve/have served ... a million thanks . derrek
rsanz Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Did you win a place in the lottery or are you going as part of a separate tour? I didn't win but my cousin did and we're going together. On a tour. Our grandfather was there for a few terrible months (including August) before going on to France and Belgium for even more unplesantness. At least he survived.

Make the most of it, it'll be an honor to be there for the 100th anniversary No direct ancestor of mine fought at Gallipoli but I believe some of the branches of my family tree did their bit in France.
rsanz Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Yea it should be quite moving... so long as it isn't turned into a complete circus.

Smallclub Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 ANZAC Day is celebrated in several places in North of France. It makes me dizzy when I remember that more than 10 000 aussies lost their lives in the battle of Arras in 1917. http://en.wikipedia....tional_Memorial 1
Maplepie Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 ANZAC Day is celebrated in several places in North of France. er- i wouldn't use the word "Celebrated" in this context there, clubby.... i personally wouldn't care less because i know what you're trying to say. but we all know how implicitly things can be taken on the interwebs! or even in person about these things (i would know... )
