markmurase Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I honestly thought these had gone past their best - but I was wrong! Of the 5 of these I've smoked since 2010 this was the best. True Cohiba proflle of sweet smooth tobacco with underlying vegetal (cut grass) flavour. So much complexity, especially in first 1/3 - waves of meaty mushroom, sweet spice, mild white pepper & occasional hints of liquorice. Beautiful sharp burn and long grey ash that only dropped at end of each 1/3. Wonderfully smooth right to the nub. Smoking time 1hr 30minutes. 23.5 points (wrapper, construction, cut & cold draw) + 24.5 (first 1/3) + 24 (middle 1/3) + 24 (last third) = 96 points A magnificent cigar. 1
fingerburner Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Splendid. Missed the bus on these but I enjoy living vicariously through fellow brothers who were lucky enough. Thanks for sharing.
Lotusguy Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 NIce... what's the size of the stick? It's a Siglo VI Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
LordAnubis Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 A siglo Vi hey... that band size and nub size and ash size is deceptive in terms of scale.
Maplepie Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 i think they've gone past their prime...... but with everyone bugging me about them, i'm gonna have to really try them again. a warm day up here in the north should be able to suffice for smoking one of these. but man, the things i could trade for these GRs. i just don't think it's worth smoking an above average stick like these. might cry when i take the first draw...

Maplepie, after you smoke that CGR I'll be keen to hear your thoughts on how yours are going. In regard to the cost, I do my best to block that out of consideration in my review. These are double or triple the price of many fine cigars and they certainly aren't double or triple as good. The CGR (and the 2003 Siglo VI) are remarkable cigars though and I feel fortunate to have been able to smoke just a few of them.
Maplepie Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Maplepie, after you smoke that CGR I'll be keen to hear your thoughts on how yours are going. had one around November, December-ish? i'd rate it an 89 or so... a 3 year old Corona Gigantes beat it... an 8 year old Petit Julieta beat it. but that's just in terms of ratings... i'd still smoke the GR over the Petit Julieta if the cost of the GR was like 100 less......
