superconductor71 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Very interesting, for the longest time I had been keeping at 68-70% without much variation and now I see how it seems the majority of people running at much lower. Like everything in life, it's all about trial and error to see what works...... ~dials his humi down a bit to see what's what~
ramon_cojones Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 For last couple of months, I put up RH to 68-70% for CC and 70-72% for NC. This after weeks of cigars tasting very bland at 65%. Ambient humidity, weather, season, location, CC/NC, cigar RG have big influence on cigar smoking experience, burn, draw & flavor.. first time i've ever heard of increased humidity resulting in more flavor
shlomo Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 first time i've ever heard of increased humidity resulting in more flavor I wouldn't do it for long term, but when the outside enviro is high and the humidor RH is high, the cigar does indeed gain a certain something. So long as it has never been dropped down to the low 60s. I'm thinking about Cuba. Buying a cigar in Cuba for instance. NOTHING tastes like a cigar stored in a humi that may be kept at around 75% with ambient RH also at %80+. Bringing the cigars home and leaving them in the humi to drop them down to where we like results in far more muted flavours, at lest for a few years. Just my own personal experience. ymmv.

Mine too have been bland at 65%, I have put 12 packs of boveda 69% in my coolador and it's holding a steady 68% and seem better so far. My hygrometer is adjustable and is calibrated with a boveda calibration pack.
