Sitting here in the 1000sf smoking lounge in the KLM Crown Club at Schiphol airport sipping Gran Genever and enjoying a Partagas SdC No.1 on my layover to Atlanta, I am thinking this has to be the most civilized airport I can ever recall spending time in.

While there are a few airports remaining with cramped and hazy smoking rooms, this lounge has a wealth of space, is nicely furnished, well ventilated and a quite pleasant place to spend a couple of hours between flights.

Are there any other airports this accommodating to the smoker? None that I'm aware of.

Well ..... at brisbanes domestic airport you can knick out behind the loading dock and big skip bins for a smoke if you can time it on between thunderstorms and security guard visits! Only problem is the thunderstorms often make for either a quick or wet smoke!

Haven't been to that one yet. Hope to check it out one day. Do they have showers?

There are a number of airports in the U.S. with smoking lounges...but you wouldn't want to be there. Almost without exception, they look and feel like places you put the "sick" people to nurse their illness. Horrible. I have heard that Denver's Smoking Bear Lounge is not too bad but I've never been.

Don't know about the world, but Durango Colorado has always been a joy. No lines, one runway, one flight at a time & now with Colorado's new marijuana laws, I can really fly the friendly skies. party.gif

Actually now that I think about it, the Heineken Bar & Grill (formally the Budweiser Brewhouse) upstairs on Concourse A in the Atlanta airport allows smoking. Since it's my home airport I rarely think about it though I've popped in once or twice when a flight was delayed.

Ventilation is not top-notch though and mostly cigarette smokers, but at least you can grab a quick smoke and a beer there. The other smoking lounges are too smoky to enjoy a cigar in, unless it's very late.
