Philski Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Off to watch the ATP tennis tonight with my brother and sister-in-law, and I'm picking out a couple of sticks for later. Found an SLR near the bottom of my desktop, but wasn't sure whether it was a Churchill or a DC so I measured it. 190mm dead. So it must be a DC, but they should be 194mm. It's near enough, and I'm 99% certain I bought it from JJ Fox, so the source is unimpeachable and I'm not concerned. But I was just wondering at what point does anyone get suspicious about their cigars when the size is off? If these had been 185mm or so, I would have been worried...
CaptainQuintero Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Sometimes rg can be off quite a bit depending on a few factors, I've not seen length vary as often but have seen it. I had a SCdlH La Fuerza last month that was 55rg but was perfectly packed and had a perfect draw :S
Blakes Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I remember my only box of petit edmundo's I bought about 18 months ago, it was a 10 box. Like with most boxes there was little differences between the RG's as you'd expect, nothing special. Except but one, this thing was huge.. It looked a whole 5 RG higher than the rest, which made me think how did it fit in the box if the others were all right, maybe they were a bit smaller.. who knows. There's was no way the cigars were suspect, so it never crossed my mind... just Cuba being Cuba I suppose. I guess you get used to these little surprises from time to time. I wish I took a picture now, anyway it was a good talking point one night with friends, gave us a chuckle!
Ginseng Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 But I was just wondering at what point does anyone get suspicious about their cigars when the size is off? When you purchase from a questionable vendor, at any time. When you purchase from a trustworthy vendor, never. Wilkey

CdnLimitada Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I have noticed this in the 3 pack (single boxes) of Cohiba robustos vs my 25 cab that the ring gauge is quite off. I trust the source though.
finecigar Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I was received once a few Monte As in coffins with 5-6 mm short length.. Ring gauge was correct though. Was a trusted vendor but made me wonder also this...
El Presidente Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Have seen anything and everything Curently smoking through a great box of 2011 Saint Luis Rey Serie A. It just happens to say Saint Luis Rey Regios on the box
