polarbear Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I'm a big fan of Gin and Tonic with my cigars I find the citrus helps to cleanse the pallet between puffs and disperse the tar and youth I find in some of my fresher cigars I had a glass of Monkey 47 and tonic at a cigar lounge the other day. It was amazing. Easily the best gin I've had in many years. It aint cheap, but if you're not drinking 4-5 glasses a night its a great beverage for a good cigar Anyone else tried this or enjoy gin and cigars?

It's right above The Botanist for me.
seamus Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I've been wanting to pickup a bottle to try for a long time. Thanks for the reminder.
Lotusguy Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 It is absolutely fantastic - I pick up a bottle every time I am in Germany. My favorite Gin to date.
Habana Mike Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Do enjoy Gin as a pairing. Haven't heard of nor seen the Monkey though... I like Hendrick's with cucumbers, had a bottle of Citradelle recently which I quite enjoyed. Aristocratic British neighbor swears by the Boodles and it does make a nice G&T. Plymouth makes a very smooth one, Sapphire and 10 are good but the Holland Genevers show you what it's all about. One of the best G&T I recall is a Martin Miller with a Behike at the Raffles Long Bar in Singapore. After a couple of house Slings you need a refresher.....
dozydruid Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Excuse me for chipping in here. I'm a huge gin fan and would like to share. In my opinion the best G&T is Adnams (as in the brewery) gin with Fevertree tonic. Its huge hit of cardamom and juniper will refresh the palate with even the heaviest cigars but it sits so well with lighter ones too. I enjoyed a couple with an SLR Serie A last night - Bliss. Other gins that are well worth investigating are are No3, London No1 (the gin is blue and wonderfully floral), Gin Mare, Warner Edwards and of course Chase (in which the eau de vie is made from cider). If you haven't tried it already, a Hendricks martini with a slice of cucumber is a real joy.
Perla Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Monkey 47 is my favorite Gin. Its fresh, full taste of juniper and as icing cranberries. The marketing story around is a bit , but as I am a half Blackforest girl ... i have the tendency to eat/drink local. Havn't had The Botanist - will give try it soon.
seamus Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I'm going to try that Fevertree tonic. Has anyone tried Q tonic? I prefer it to regular tonic since it has far less sugar but its a little light on flavor.
garbandz Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 + 1 for Hendricks Gin,absolutely delightful stuff,try it with a cucumber wedge.........
