bossman3 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Hello all, I just received a box of San Cristobal La Puntas. I've had them about a week. They seem to be getting lighter and lighter(weight wise) and the flavor is changing. Going from sweet to a tad bit harsh. Any suggestions? Thanks
Jnaube Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Where do you keep the box? Maybe your humidor is too dry? A dry cigar is generally lighter than a humid one. Flavors can differ a lot too.
bossman3 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 thanks all, I keep them in airtight glass jars with two 65% boveda packs in them.one has about 18 sticks and the other 10. thanks
bossman3 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 I keep them in my bedroom. sometimes the ac is on and sometimes not. it gets hot in my room daily.
Smallclub Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Are you weighing them every day? And you smoke one of them every day?
bossman3 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 hopefully. I'll definitely check again tomorrow...... thanks all.
ewipper Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 A lot of cigars in general have less tobacco. Especially san cristobal which historically have plug problems. The new san cristobals have been very harsh. El principes are an exception to this.
bossman3 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Not crunchy just very light like tere's nothing there. The flavor is leaving as well. thanks Thanks Marevas, maybe i'll try those next....
bossman3 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Okay all, can you give me some examples of medium body cigars that have a lot of flavor? Thanks
jdo2110 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Well, staying with the format, VR Unicos Fit that description (to me). And of course, you can't go wrong with a Monte 2, or Edmundo. People might class those as stronger cigars, but I Consider them full flavored. Strong, to me, would Have that peppery spice, like some Bolivars have.
jdo2110 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, and not trying to rob your thread, NCs tend to have a little More strength than CCs do. There is no doubt That some CCs that are on the milder side, but I can't think Of any other than Bolivars that are strong. I'd love Input on this...
Smallclub Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Strong, to me, would Have that peppery spice, like some Bolivars have. You are confusing "spice" and "strenght". Bolivars are strong but they're not "spicy". Most Partagas are.
bossman3 Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 So the Partagas shorts are strong? Haven't had one yet. I was thinking about trying them out.
jdo2110 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 bossman, what does strong mean to you? I've seen so many different uses of the word, that I admit, I might have it wrong. And that's funny, too, Because in my experience (which is not nearly as much as a lot of people), the opposite was true Between Bolis and Partis. I think Partis are some of the boldest in flavor, but I've never thought of Them as spicy. Hmmm....
bossman3 Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Skyfall....I have no idea.....it's usually about 80+ in my room and when the air is on it probably goes to 65-70. Inside the Humi....I have no idea....the bovedas are there. jdo2110....full bodied dizzing cigars.....are what I call strong.....thanks all
jdo2110 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Okay, makes sense. I have definitely had cigars That didn't overwhelm me with spice, but sat me Down with the nicotine!!
