Cohiba Stevie Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I remember being fascinated and laughing my head off at this story, for those who dont know, in the UK and Ireland we have a programme called the Graham Norton show in which he interviews celebrities, at the end of the show he invites audience members to sit in a special chair and tell a story. If the story is good they get up and walk away, if its crap Graham flips the chair backwards and they fall off. I actually dont mind Graham becuase he played a very funny character in an irish comedy called Father Ted, my girlfriend is also mad about him and has actually been an audience member on the show. Here is one of the storys I will never forget. DISCLAIMER: although this man says hes from Belfast which is where im from, we talk nothing like that! He's clearly spent too much time in London lol. I hope you enjoyed ken!
kw2662 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Love it. Great Story. I had the chance to spend a few moments with Bruce Springsteen he is quite a humble pie and probably loved not being noticed.
Guest rob Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Can't believe Springsteen would be seen with a tool like Bono!
mazolaman Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Can't believe Springsteen would be seen with a tool like Bono! x2.
polarbear Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I'm pretty sure if Bono took off his glasses no one would recognize him either Great story
Ken Gargett Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 terrific stuff. tho i also struggle to believe that bruce would be having anything to do with bono. norton gets a lot of coverage down here though i've never watched him before. love stories like that. for rugby fans, there is a great one about tim horan at the 2003 world cup final. for non-rugby fans, horan is arguably the greatest centre to ever play the game, possibly the greatest back. he was working along the edge of the field pre game (he was doing media stuff, having stopped playing a few years earlier). two pommy fans called him over and asked if he wouldn't mind a photo. sure, he said. so they gave him the camera and stood back grinning, waiting for him to take their photo. another good mate used to do a lot of pointy end flying between the uk and the states. one evening back on the old concorde, the woman next to him fell asleep, leaning on his shoulder. later, the hostess asked what it was like to sleep with julia roberts. who? my mate was not a movie fan and had no idea that the woman nextt to him, sleeping on his shoulder was one of the world's biggest stars. all a bit notting hill. thanks for that.
Dara Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Horan was arguably the greatest centre to play the game, but then Brian O'Driscoll came along!! BOD is catching up on George Gregans record of most capped player with 138 caps although he's still 8 caps off so not sure he'll catch George but still puts Horans 80 caps in the shade. He's also 8th in terms of highest scorers (campo is the only Aussie above him). I'm trying to think did Horan & O'Driscoll ever play together as a centre combination for the Babas together...would have been some pairing!

jedipastor Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 That's an awesome story. What's with all the Bono hate here, lol? Hi might not be The Boss, but he's a great musician.
