polarbear Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Over the last 5 or so years i've managed to find myself with quite a number of tubed cigars. All different brands, Cohiba, RyJ, Montecristo, Partagas, Uppman, Tatuaje ect I was wondering if people store them in thier humidors with the caps on, caps off or take them out of the tubes completely? As you can no longer get Tubed cigars in Aus (thanks plain packaging!) I dont want to throw all the tubes away cause they can come in handy when i'm heading out and dont want to take my 3 finger case with me, but if i removed them from my humidor they will surely get lost or damaged while waiting to be used. What is the best rule of thumb for storing Tubos in the Humi?
braveheart655 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I haven't experienced a downside of leaving the caps on. The cigars are always in perfect condition...

SurpriseMVP Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I haven't experienced a downside of leaving the caps on. The cigars are always in perfect condition... X4. Never had an issue with caps that have been left on for 10+ years
zmancbr Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I leave 'em the way they arrive! Caps on and in the box. They all have a little piece of cedar in the tubo so that is good enough for me.
jimb2u Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I always leave them intact sealed up with no issues. I have friends who swear they haut drop them in a drawer for months with no humidify cation and never have an issue. I tend to err on the side of safety and stick them in my storage lockers I tend to notice more plume on sticks that are in tubes at an earlier age than cabinet or boxed cigars...anyone else have the same experience ? Cheers Jim
Colt45 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I do like to initially check tubed cigars for signs of mold, but after that, store them caps on. For lack of a better way to put it, I've always felt that tubed cigars have their own little microclimate within the climate of the humidor.
