Reviews of Mollydooker wines are usually pretty good. What was wrong with it?

Not been a fan of their wines myself, and I questioned their re-badging (not to mention the mark up) of their "Carnival of Love" wine to "Ring Master General" just because Dave Stewart was spruiking it...

Mollydooker is what I like to call a "t1ts and ass" wine. its a huge alcoholic fruit bomb. It is parkerized wine taken to its extreme. This sort of wine has its place but it isn't a fine wine and it surprises me when its advertised as "one of Australia's top wines", only touted as such outside of Australia of course.

If you want a good australian wine try Grant Burge , Elderton (love their Command shiraz) , Yarra Yering, Clonakilla, my picks after living in Melbourne for 8 years or so.

If you like the wines big and alcoholic but are seeking a better structure and finish try Standish's "The Standish" shiraz.

I've had 3 bottles, from 3 different years from 3 different vendors - and all 3 have been raped full of literally pieces of bark, wood, trash and sediment. The taste is astringent at best, and mucked full of quality control failure. In all 3 bottles I could easily fill a double shot glass full of sediment and trash from the bottle. News Flash, a 2009, 2010 or 2011 bottle of wine shouldn't have to be decanted due to sediment!

Out of 40+ bottles of $30.00 + Austrailian Wine, I have yet to find a bottle worth a damn.

For the love of God, if there is a decent bottle of Austrailian wine out there, somebody send me a bottle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hard to find good Australian wine in Europe and the US, at least in my experience. You need to visit...

Fosters? Aussies don't drink bloody Fosters!! We leave that stuff for the tourists and drink craft beers from Little Creatures, Coopers, Vale Ale, Gage Roads, etc. No true Aussie will ever admit to ever having tasted a drop of Fosters.

when i was young, i thought fosters was the name of the NSW cricket team. i learned later that they were actually the sponsor. it was NSW right?

The first time I went to Houston, I was drinking in a bar that had Fosters on tap whch really made me laugh since I don't know of one pub here in Tassie that has it on tap. I thought I would try a glass to see if it was any different to what we get here in Aus. LOL bottom line it still tasted like crap, lol ill stick to the Shiner when I'm Texas.

Nahh next thing you'll be telling me you don't even watch Neighbours! lookaround.gif

Oh, hell! Not that bloody claptrap! I'd rather have a red hot poker shoved up me clacker than watch an Aussie soapie, or any other soapie for that matter!!

Love the fact that you didn't mention any of our favourites....except for the Penley.

Our favourites are not available in the States, eg the Kalleske Greenock Shiraz or Krondorf Reserve Shiraz. Unless someone is sourcing them directly, boutique wines are just not widely available. The above list or wines are commercially available in the States.
