tempbond Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Maybe you've seen this cigar before, but I just saw it for the first time today. Very particular wrapper, must be hard to make. Looks like they use a regular connecticut wrapper to cover the entire cigar and then add cutouts of candela and maduro leaves to make the camo design. If you want to read more on it : http://www.cigarinsights.com/cigar-reviews/american-eagles-robusto/
braveheart655 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 It seems like they've used a lot of glue on that wrapper. Even with natural glue that should really affect the overall taste.
LGC Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Looks like a cigar with candela and maduro pieces plastered all over. Doesn't appear to be anything particularly difficult to make.
laficion Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Why not,It's only for the AMERICANS anyway !!!!!
Charltonc Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Davidoff makes the cigar for this company and it donates half its profits to the troops, I believe the Wounded warrior fund. My buddy smoked it, he said it was CIGARBAGE.
canadianbeaver Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Arturo Fuente has been doing weird stuff to Opus X's for a while, making cigars look like footballs etc. It is very clever and once the USA went over the novelty cliff of mummy, hallowe'en editions and fetal pig etc, nothing surprises me. At least this attaches itself to a worthy cause and lots of guys will like it. And it beats the heck out of " My Uzi Weighs a Ton".
CaptainQuintero Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 -Personally I'd smoke it before passing judgement, I wouldn't turn one down simply because it doesn't fit the traditionalists style. -The flying pig was around in the 50's in Cuba, in the Upmann #. 22 Dunhill Seleccion Suprema. -My Uzi Weighs a ton, are custom blended private boutique cigars which at the time were yet to have been named, a friend of the Drew Estate lifted his and said it feels like a weapon, Jonathan Drew lifted a whole bundle and said 'yeah but my uzi weighs a ton'....cigars...fun...and friendship.
Cohiba Stevie Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 -Personally I'd smoke it before passing judgement, I wouldn't turn one down simply because it doesn't fit the traditionalists style.-The flying pig was around in the 50's in Cuba, in the UPMANN NO. You make a good point about the 'my uzi weighs a ton' but they are normal looking cigars and from what i hear quite decent. But i couldnt take anybody seriously smoking that thing above, and like already mentioned im sure its construction probably warrants bad flavour with the glue and mixed wrapper shades. I think the same of some of those 'barberpole' wrapped cigars... No thanks, i will pass.
nick17 Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 vary cool looking i dont know if i would but one to smoke but maybe buy one to support a good cause and as a show piece thats about it
canadianbeaver Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Of course the Flying pig was originally a Cuban classic. I have a Hamlet hand rolled Flying pig in my humidor with a unique closed foot that is so big it looks like it could vibrate. No doubt MUWaT's have wonderful merit but it is the novelty marketing I am referring to, as opposed to the more premium direction of the Cuban cigars. Drew Estate and Pete Johnson both seem to be fantastic at this.
karlb Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Camo is always in style state-side...it would have been classic if the guy in the "Man Shows off Cohibas" video would have pulled a few of these from his Sublimes box.
