Nino Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Hi all, after almost 10 years and half a million visitors to my blog, it was about time to install a new, more user-friendly, system and re-design the blog structure. It's running smoothly as of this afternoon can't believe it ............ I had used Joomla for the last 6 years or so, and it was a PITA to put it mildly. I needed 13 clicks to upload each single picture, it was time-consuming and support for that system was hard to get. Thanks to friends I received a good offer to migrate the system to the more blog-user-friendly Wordpress format. My thanks to all friends who contributed their ideas and suggestions to this project. A lot of fine-tuning is still ahead, some links will not work, others have to be manually replaced which will take time. Being retired I have the time .... unless I'm in Cuba having fun with Rob & Rob, Art, Punch Joe et al like in 4 weeks from now The new structure has advantages - a search function, a separate sub-section for all Cuba travel reports, a sub-section for all Pharmacy Cigar meetings as well as galleries that will be filled with cigar and general pictures. I appreciate any feed-back and comments to the new blog design and like to thank all visitors for their continued loyalty. Nino

Nino Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Hi all, first of all : THANK YOU very much to all that have posted on the re-launch !! Much appreciated and your comments are really welcomed ! As one who has enjoyed your blog for the last couple of years let me be the first to say BRAVO!!! Your new blog is superior in design and layout to the previous version. I am happy it is so much easier for you to administer because you are retired, aren't you? No need for a hobby to become a full-time job! Cheers Nino, I look forward to many more years of your adventures! Orion, very well put - you hit the nail, I showed your post to my wife and she applauded, why waste my retired time on an old, ineffective system when I can have a system that I master and works perfectly well in a fraction of the old time ... To give you an example : Today I started playing with the new Wordpress system - I uploaded a picture gallery just for fun of my first Havana trip back in 2005, all of 115 pics, a ton worth, but : no re-sizing needed as the new system automatically re-sizes pics, took all of 20 minutes to select & upload and I had it done, whereas in the old Joomla system a single picture would have taken 13 clicks plus captions, etc, bla, bla .. Here's the result : http://flyingcigar.d...icture-gallery/ So, yes, you're right, no full time job, but just a/the hobby it has been and more time to smoke, be with friends and in Cuba Gooooooood job Nino! See you in 4-5 weeks Thanks - look forward ! Great news. I look forward to seeing it Nino. Always a great blog to read I certainly appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Zum wohl!! Danke ! Auch von hier aus ein Prost zurück ! Well done Nino Your blog is always a delight to read ,keep up the good work, and I am sure there will plenty to add after the "Cuba trip" Oh and on another front have you heard of or can you give us any news on MRN's new book Cheers Steve (OZ) Thank you - there certainly will be more after theCuba trip. Regarding your MRN question, he's still working hard and on rare off-days on the II Edition, he's a strict pefectionist. Might be able to post more on the progress after my Cuba trip as I have been invited to visit HKG soon .... and I plan a trip there. The blog looks great Nino. Congratulations!!! See you in 4 weeks in HAV. Maybe we can do a joint blog about our trip?!?!? Great work my friend.... Can't wait to catch up and reconect Sounds good Art, you're hired, I smoke and take pics, you write I know how much work goes into the changes mate....congratulations Thanks Rob, much appreciated ! Relaunching our website presently and my crazy nerves concur Well done Nino! I can hook you up with my guy .... my nerves are still OK ! Oh, and add me to your Havana list next month... I hope to see you there. Same here, Aloha in Havana at Gato Tuerto ?? Good stuff Nino! I'm glad you put as much effort in to your blog as you do - its a beautiful read and your passion is infectious! Looking forward to November! The first Cuba Libre is on me Thanks -The Mojitos are on me ... Thank you Nino for this mighty service to smoking humanity! Best, Michel Merci, Michel, exaggerating a bit there, I think, but smoking cigars is indeed, as you write a human cultural thing, and should be enjoyed, shared and celebrated. So if what I do is celebrate and document the act of enjoying cigars with friends and share it with other friends on the Internet for their enjoyment and that is welcomed, I'm happy. Life's good !! Thank you all Nino
Squarehead Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Gut gemacht Nino, ich hätte nicht die geduld dafür obwohl auch ich in rente bin.
