davidsan Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Copped a single of this, ensure of the box code. I wanted to start getting into thinner gauge cigars so thought I would try this. Will smoke this tonight and post a review but just wanted to see if anyone has smoked these before and what did you think of them? Think it is 33 ring gauge and 170 length? I usually smoke Robusto or Corona Gorda size but think it's time to start developing my tastes a bit more to accommodate some long & skinnies!
gigabyte056 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Very good smoke, but requires patience as it is thin you don't want to overheat it. take your time and you will enjoy it.
ramon_cojones Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Had an extremely flavor '10, however my 11s have not developed yet.
jedipastor Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I've only had 1, but I really liked it. You do have to smoke it carefully, though, as SmokeinPeace said. They will overheat on you quickly if you smoke them too hard or too fast.
davidsan Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Had a particularly shitty day at work today so looking forward to taking some nice relaxing time after dinner and having a smoke for a few hours so will make sure to savour it and not burn it all at once. Thanks for the feedback.
Jszeto Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 When you overheat a cigar, what happens? Does the flavor just become bitter?
CaptainQuintero Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 When you overheat a cigar, what happens? Does the flavor just become bitter? Pretty much, the flavours turn bitter and the smoke becomes hot and harsh. The slower you can smoke the cooler the smoke and the more flavours you should get
Themis Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I have a 25er he of them on the way... I love the le hoyo lineup. Very flavourful complex line.
jedipastor Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 When you overheat a cigar, what happens? Does the flavor just become bitter? Exactly. When the rate of combustion is off, the flavor will be off ... not enough=less flavor, too much=bitter/ashy flavor. For a strong cigar, this might not matter as much. For for a delicate, milder smoke like the Hoyo Gormet, it's a HUGE factor. Don't worry, just smoke it a little softer than you would a lancero. You'll know if it's getting too hot, lol, then just slow down. I personally think that if you're an HdM fan, they are definitely worth the try, and the price point is good. I personally love Hoyos in the morning
ramon_cojones Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Never had problems with small cigars overheating myself but then it'll take me an hour to smoke a short.
