perfectform Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 XFL. End of debate. He Hate Me? Seriously though, you will never see a bigger display of incompetence than last night's events. As a lifelong Seahawks fan I've never been more appalled, ashamed and disgusted with officiating as I was last night. Just goes to show what occurs when you hire officials at Foot Locker.
CaptainQuintero Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Maradona HOG is pretty infamous but that's more the player's fault than a decision, living memory for me that stands out is this: How anyone could miss that I still don't know. It cost us the World Cup........

CaptainQuintero Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 that would be one all for the cups then? We don't talk about bad decisions that go in our favour, refs and linesmen have a very hard job and are only human, they do they best they can.
Ken Gargett Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 We don't talk about bad decisions that go in our favour, refs and linesmen have a very hard job and are only human, they do they best they can. couldn't agree more. i only wish that in all the years i have been supporting teams that i'd had a few dodgy ones go our way.
Ken Gargett Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It's good that you celebrated the outright cheating of so much, just on that, no question he cheated but i have a feeling it was around that time that your keeper, bob taylor (may have the wrong one and apols to him if so), was exposed as claiming a catch he clearly dropped. surely that is cheating of the same magnitude - and before you think this is simply pommy bashing, i'm sure that we could find many examples from every country where sportsmen have cheated. yours, ours, others. there would be very very few cricketers, if any, who have not appealed for a catch behind or an lbw, when they didn't believe it was out. is that any different? and when the wicket has been given, have we not all been pleased, at least to a degree. sadly. what of a footballer that takes a dive for a penalty? cheating. a blight on soccer. watch any game of aussie rules, league, rugby and so on and endless instances of players making false claims. all cheating but it seems accepted. the very sad fact is that sportsmen cheat. quality referee'ing is one way to stamp it out. video reviews and subsequent heavy punishments another. but i don't believe we'll ever be completely rid of it. maradona's was no better or worse than thousands of other examples. the outrage came because of the competition in which it happened and the opponent, given the history of the falklands.
messa Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 USA vs USSR Basketball. 1972 Olympics. Too many successive errors to not be at or near the top.
asmith Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 My sand castle in the shape of a fish was not judged "best on beach" in the 1979 Forrest Beach Sand Castle Contest. To this day I feel I was robbed.

Heartily agree Ken, for every injustice against is an injustice for. Football and boxing are probably the worst, but the likes of FIFA (possibly the most corrupt governing body around...) will not bring in the technology, as they like the drama the current situation creates. It sells papers.. One of the reasons I love cricket so much is that over a series, you find it generally evens out, you get some for and some against.
GernBlansten Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Perhaps it's not the worst all-time decision, but I think its crappy to have the fourth NHL work stoppage in twenty years. They need to axe the teams from Columbus and Phoenix and get on with it! Oh, yeah...axe Bettman too!
CaptainQuintero Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Going outside the box here- Demoting Rangers in the SPL. It's essentially killed the whole SPL and will put most clubs out of business. The TV companies only paid money to the league because of the Old Firm clashes, they won't happen again now so the money will vanish; SPL clubs have been hanging on by their fingers nails over the last few years, talk about the straw that broke the camel's back..this is going up the the camel and setting it on fire...
KurtE Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Forming the Collingwood Football Club Very good point, nothing wrong with Harmes in 79.
sv_ontour Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 but the winner is.... without question, the worst decision made in any sport ever, in the history of mankind, and a decision so monumentally bad that in a thousand years, it will still rank as the worst of all time - to appoint deans as the wallaby coach. worst. decision. ever. ....and to also bring Cooper along for the ride.
Gooie Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Trevor Chappell deciding to listen to his brothers advice and bowl underarm....... WORST DECISION EVER!
Paneotto Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Gallaragas robbed of perfect game in 9th by first base ump.

Deans hasn't lost 7 straight games like Eddie Jones, and he didn't bomb out to a terrible team in WC quarters and drop to 5th in world rankings unlike John Connolly. I think your expectations are too high, considering the quality and depth of present Wallaby squad. I was surprised that they managed to beat the springboks a few weeks ago with that lineup (even though the boks have never played well in australia... ever). Last year they were injury free and looked the goods except for the non-test standard flyhalf. And if you're counting on Mckenzie, look at his variable record with the star studded Waratahs... or his disastrous seasons with Stade Francais '08-'09 where he took the championship-holders to relegation. He's alright but no Great Redeemer. Deans ain't the greatest but he ain't the worst either. Could sack him for PR reasons, just to placate the idiots in the media, and build up the optimism around the team. Wouldn't solve the issue of player depth when injuries strike again, and as Mckenzie is a QC-worshipper wouldn't solve the 1st5 dilemma either (the real kiwi trojan horse is quade cooper...) p.s. Andy Haden is as loved in NZ as Sally Robbins is in Oz - that kind of "hero".

coblos Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 This may be one of the best decisions of all time. The NBA will this year introduce penalties for flopping that can be reviewed after the fact. Last year was terrible for flopping, was becoming like an Italian soccer match. 1st offence - Warning 2nd offence - $5000 3rd offence - $10000 4th offence $15000 5th offence $30000 6th+ offence - Suspension I don't always agree with Jeff Van Gundys rants, but I do agree with his frequent flopping rants. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfjkEXh-b18&feature=related I am amused that people think this will go against the Heat. Jones, Battier & Haslem are big floppers and Wade loves drawing the foul on a shot, but Lebrons post up game will likely benefit greatly from this new rule.
hermit Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Bringing AFL to Sydney, closely followed by pushing Super League into NRL. Rugby League has just lost it's way these days.
AverageJoe83 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Oh. My. God. Okay, I can understand the rest of the world not mentioning this, but for you U.S. brothers out there, for shame! The date was December 26, 1919 when Henry Frazee sold Babe Ruth, who had played the previous six seasons for the Red Sox, to the rival New York Yankees (Ruth had just broken the single-season home run record, hitting 29 in 1919). Legend has it that Frazee did so in order to finance the Broadway play "No, No, Nanette". That play did not actually open on Broadway until 1925, but as Leigh Montville discovered during research for his book, The Big Bam: The Life and Times of Babe Ruth, "No, No, Nanette" had originated as a non-musical stage play called "My Lady Friends", which opened on Broadway in December 1919. "My Lady Friends" had, indeed, been financed by the Ruth sale to the Yankees.
Sutton Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 1999 Stanley Cup game and Brett Hull's in the crease goal against Buffalo Sabers. One of the worst calls in NHL hockey and even to win the Stanley Cup in triple over time
Pilgrims Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I am going to interpret this a different way: Worst decision for me is whoever decided to allow so many subs in my favourite sport (Rugby). I love the sport no less for it but the dynamic and number of truly great games has changed. You used to see sides react as a game went on and want to break a side down then scoring when things opened up later. Now you have less direct one on one confrontations and less space onwards the end of the game. Three changes is fine but 5 or 6 is crazy...
