I get a 30 minute break at work and over time I've developed the "ability" to close my eyes and flick the switch to off,as it were, for most of it.I'm not sure it'd count within the power nap definition but I certainly seem able to zone it all out and go back feeling good to go.

I've recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP machine now. Napping might not hurt... but if you are always tired most every day, then you might have medical issues with sleeping. The doctor has informed me that chances of dying of strokes and heart attacks has been shown to be more likely for sleep apnea patients, according to long term research.

Love the power nap

I find it energises me for the afternoon / evening ahead

Viva la siesta!!

Power nap = Power down

Should only be half an hour or less though. Longer than that, I find that I start to drag.

When you get up, you are more rejuvenated and ready for more. No science to back this up, only my first hand experience.

I remember hearing somewhere that 5-15 minutes was optimal, I am crap at just dozing off so don't but would love to!

Rob, be honest. You're not having a siesta. You're just recovering from hitting the sauce a bit too hard. :wink2:

What is in a definition???

Definition of Robs power nap. Midday I pass out after a bottle!!! -LOL

I do this occasionally but when my body drives me to sleep midday I cannot just 'go down' for 20 minutes. My old man, a physicist and prolific inventor did this all the time. He sleept very little in an formal bed in his later years. Since he worked with this mind, it was a part of his process. He would often wake with solutions! He worked, on and off 24/7 because he loved solving problems and creating. As kids he brought his yellow pad to the table, to the TV... when we went fishing. You would think that yellow pads were some sort of holy object in my house! Turn around and he was sleeping with the pad in his lap, hands crossed, sometimes with an empty pipe in his mouth!!! Pretty funny. He would be up and at it again in about 30 minutes.

I prefer an ice-cold shower when I'm feeling tired. When I sleep during the day I have a hell of a time waking up. Stand under cold water for a few minutes, though, and you get yourself going again!

I nap everyday after work for an hour. I wake up feeling great. Anything longer than an hour and im messed up for the rest of the day and cant fall asleep at night.

Oh man I'm definitely a napper. Seeing as I work night shift, sleeping is luxury.

I agree 10 fold with no more than 20-30 mins. I can't get it together

Quickly after an hour nap. That's when I would need cold shower. Lol. So another vote for the nap from me

Deleted wrong spot. I'm mobile and my phone will not let me delete, lol. My apologies

A short nap is healthy, so do not feel guilty about it.
