Yoruba Hacker Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 We had a thread a while back on the greatest tennis player of all time, and I think the majority went to the Laver camp. Understood, and all of this is just opinion, but to me, the Swiss guy with the great hair simply can't be topped. As I said then, it's not just the number of Majors won, but the utterly preposterous consistency HAS to be factored in. For the same reasons Jack is the best golfer, Fed has to be considered the best tennis player ever. He's played in at least five finals of every major on every surface, and a total of 24 Major finals. What? But more, 23 consecutive semis, 32 total semis, and 33 consecutive quarters. Ridiculous. Look at Rafa losing early this year and you know that in the equivalent of matchplay golf, anyone can have a bad day and go down. Anyone can be hurt and go down. Fed never goes down. We'll never see anything like this guy, and this from the world's biggest Pete sampras fan The guy's outrageous. And the hair....
riazp Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 someone has a mancrush LOL! seriously, he is one helluva tennisman thats for sure. i'll always be a agassi guy myself though.
Ghabanos Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Absolutely no denying his talent. Back at the top baby, back at the top.
LeafLover Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 someone has a mancrush LOL! Count me in as a Federer fan boi as well. He's the man. I think he's a more complete player than Pete. And, he adapts to the game. In the last two years, you see him hitting harder and improving his game. And still on top at age of 30? Seriously? Is he better than Rafa? His stats says yes. But, Rafa has his number for sure. Rafa, with his heavy topspin to the one handed back hand...hard to deal with. I've become a Rafa hater because he does toy with Roger. But, Roger is my favorite. Moreso than any other player I've ever followed. But, I've grown to like Rafa. I think Rafa will surpass the number of of grandslams than Roger. I see Rafa winning 3 or 4 more French Opens at least, and will sneak in a couple other grand slams. But regardless, to me Federer will always be my favorite, most complete tennis player.
CaptainQuintero Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I don't know about the best, but Murray is for sure the happiest person I've ever seen
Paneotto Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I don't know about the best, but Murray is for sure the happiest person I've ever seen Federer is the most graceful player I have ever seen. He glides instead of running.

Yes, the topspin to the one handed backhand from a lefty. Problems. Rafa is ridiculously great and a nice kid. Ran into him a couple of years ago in Cairo. But I just don't think his body will hold up enough to make up the 5 slam difference, despite the youth advantage. Don't think he'll be able to be as good at 31 as Roger is now and looks to be for the next couple of years still. Unlike Rafa, he hasn't broken down, and has and will have more chances.Feel like Roger has two more Slams in him, putting the number at 19. Will Rafa win 7 or 8 MORE? Seems a stretch. One man's opinion.
