Miner Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I found a box to fill the empty space.... Sig Sixer PSP from El Pres Arrived today, needs a couple of weeks in the fridge.. Can I wait ?? Tough question !! I could go blind waiting !! What would you do ?? Cheers
Ophidion Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Smoke one right now to gauge how long they need to rest.
Styler Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 As tempting as it is, I kinda think that smoking a cigar straight from transit is a waste of it's potential. I give all my sticks at least 2 weeks to recover, usually more. They look great by the way
Miner Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 You know without trying to advertise...I paid him for this box... A PSP box from El Pres is something to behold.. Worth every cent IMO PS Rob, beers on me when you pitch up in Perth. Cheers

MrDowse Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I would have to smoke one. Can transit really have hurt them that much if they're packed in a Cedar box and several layers of airtight plastic? They're cigars not Dolphins. Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! etc.

I'll try just one and let you know. Cheers
amosnaim Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I always smoke one the very first day I receive a shipment from the Czar. Just can't resist it. Enjoy
investandprosper Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Great looking box there. I always smoke one on arrival, so I have something to compare the others to later on. I usually don't revisit the box for a month or so, unless they're really smoking well right away. After losing my dad in December, I'm of the persuasion that if a box is smoking well, enjoy them now.
Bunner Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 very nice! I personally always wait 2-4 weeks. but they also take nearly 15 transit days to get to me. Enjoy!

Lotusguy Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Sorry, but the term "ROTT" simply does not exist in my vocabulary. I never, ever, EVER, crack a box prior to a minimum 30 day rest period after receipt. I got plenty of other stuff to smoke while I wait. Now, I have given away sticks from boxes that I had just received the same day but I always recommend to the recipient to let them rest as well. Latest case in point is a box of HDM Regalos LE 2007 that I have not tasted yet but I have given two away in bombs to other BOTLs already.
Orion21 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Smoke them if you have them. If you have a King's Ransom in cigars like Claus letting the new ones rest is a great idea. I think most would agree that Cuban's are delicate flowers, but if you don't have a stockpile dig in until you do. Enjoy those Sig VI's!
Marker Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I let my dolphins rest for a few weeks after shipping, too I just get the can opener and some mayo. Why wait?

Well, yeah, I do have a few cigars Especially Siglo VI are much better rested, or better yet, with 5+ years on them...
Bernid Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Wait 4-6 years, for optimum aging. Say March of 2016 would be a good time to smoke them OR do what I do and smoke on my whims!!! Usually I smoke 'em when I see them!!
gigabyte056 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Can someone please explain the bomb idea that I keep hearing about?
Lotusguy Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Can someone please explain the bomb idea that I keep hearing about? Bomb = unsolicited cigar package sent out to unsuspecting BOTLs. Often resulting in retaliatory action, sometimes escalating to a full-out war (example, one of my cigar friends just sent me a package containing 35(!!!!!) sticks that absolutely obliterated my mailbox) I'll get you back, Carl
CanuckSARTech Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I just get the can opener and some mayo. Why wait? LOL.
