mk05 Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Hey guys, looking for help while in Indonesia and Thailand; doing a loop from HK to Bali, Phuket, Koh Samui, then HK.
DrunkenMonkey Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Never been myself, but I've heard fantastic things about Singapore.
mk05 Posted May 5, 2012 Author Posted May 5, 2012 thank you, unfortunately i will not be going to singapore.
coblos Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Been to Indonesia many times, assuming you are referring to Cubans you probably won't have much luck finding anything rare or special outside of Jakarta. In Bali if you want to try a decent Indonesian puro grab a Tambo.
mk05 Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 Thank you, definitely will grab some Tambo. FYI, the CT shade strain originated from Indonesia.
ZinZan Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I'll pitch in for Koh Sa Mui been there many times, the last time i was there which was a couple of years ago. There's no cigar shop whatsoever, your better off bringing your own. They might sell it in the hotel but you can never be sure of the storage or the quality. But the party scene there is mad, if you happen to catch the full moon party. It has grown into extremely commercialised and cheesy party nevertheless an experience.
Ghabanos Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Did u find a place in Phuket? In my haste I left my sticks at hm.

CdnLimitada Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 In Bali it is slim pickens' that I have found. I go there a couple times a year and bring my own. Tried a Tambo last time (PC). It was decent. It's odd too because the special food market in Seminyak had Cubans a couple years ago and I bought a PSD 4 that blew me away. They had a decent (not large) selection. At the time I knew almost nothing about cigars. Went back last year and the stock was gone except the local stuff. I bought a cohiba Sig 3 at the Conrad in Nusa Dua thinking that it would be decent in a nice hotel but the storage was not good IMO and the cigar was not great. Good venue in the lobby overlooking the beach though. Still a lot of places to smoke there. Phuket I just bring my own. Haven't put time into researching anything. Sorry if that doesn't help much.
sengjc Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Indonesia's got some pretty decent local brands: Tambo and Sultan. Try looking for those.
aes8 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Take your own sticks or just buy singles in HK. You're pretty much drawing dead in Phuket. Take in Wan Chai at night and swing by and see Ravi in Central. . Food street in Central is a great pace to kill an afternoon with cheap Stella, free wi-fi and no hassle smoking.
kodebusan Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 In Cambodia if you have time (or will), you have a LCDH in Phnom Penh, and probably the best price for the area. And the owner is a real passionate and overall a very nice guy.

aes8 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Do you think you could pm me his address? I visit hk pretty often and would love to meet the guy Just shoot him an email so he knows you are coming. Take the D exit out of the MTR. Go up the hill turn right. It's a pretty non descript building. I brought him some wine my last trip. You can email Rob for gift suggestions. When your done go to the famous noodle house down the street. I'll shoot you the name next week as I forget it but have the business card in my office.
