CIGAR: La Prosa Kings 1946

Prelight:

I held the cigar under a tap just enough water running to lightly wet the wrapper. I then rolled a cloth around it for a few seconds to rid water.

Well constructed. Firm to the touch, no soft or hard spots at all. Nice wrapper, still had oil on it.. I can't tell what color it was really..Colorado I guess.

Pre-light draw was perfect. Sweet taste on the lips and I think a Pear flavor in the mouth. I knew I was in for an awesome experience.

Paired with water.

1/3:

Lit it and perfect draw. Huge amounts of extremely, extremely smooth smoke, light-medium light. Initial flavors are very sweet, tasted like cotton candy and nectar from flowers. No harshness whatsoever. Coffee coming through the nose.

2/3:

Tonnes of smoke with a perfect burn. Plenty of milk coffee through the nose. Flavors similar to 1/3, but a bit more pronounced. No harshness at all! The smoke smells like burning caramel.

3/3:

Ash fell at about a 1 1/2 inch for the second time. Flavors are even louder. Lots of pepper on the tongue. Sweetness in the back of the mouth. I even felt sweetness on my teeth! Some leather kicking in. More smoke than ever. Lots of sweet milk coffee on the palate and through the nose. Hints of Nutmeg.

Towards the end, the cigar is getting quite spicy but not harsh at all.

My thoughts:

Wonderful cigar! Extremely sweet. Perfect burn mostly, near perfect at some parts. I expected the wrapper to dry out and crack but nothing of that sort happened. I don't know if it's because of running water over it or it was because of the cigar itself. I loved the final third. The whole place smelled like someone was burning caramel!

Good thing I have 47 more of these!

I did not wash it down I let a small stream of water dribble over it, making sure to wet only the wrapper and not the foot. I do this to prevent the wrapper from cracking or tearing which usually happens to cigars this old. It does not affect the flavour or taste in any way, only betters the smoking experience:)

This is just my opinion.

I do this to prevent the wrapper from cracking or tearing which usually happens to cigars this old. It does not affect the flavour or taste in any way, only betters the smoking experience:)

This is just my opinion.

I do this as well for old cigars, or cigars that appear to have very delicate wrappers, or when I smoke in dryer, cooler weather. This simple technique does wonders for preventing splitting. If anything, I find it enhances the burn and flavor a bit.
