Evangundy Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Hey guys, I have a vinotemp 28TED that I am trying to set up. I have looked through the forums and have not come across a detailed explanation on drilling through the unit to allow power cables for fans and whatnot. Does anyone have a detailed explanation for this exact model?
CaptainQuintero Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I could be wrong but I think Piggy said every model is and he figured out his through being very careful. I think he said tap to find the hollow plaes and again be very careful.
LeafLover Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Step 1: Unplug the cord, place switch to the off position ......

Does anyone have a detailed explanation for this exact model? I have a Vinotemp 28TED and just ran the cables thru the existing drain hole. No drilling required. The only thing I am powering is a computer fan.

PigFish Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 WARNING: I DON'T USE THERMOELECTRIC COOLERS! Now that is out of my system, be further advised that since I have no experience with these and I am only guessing. Take the advice for what it is worth. I would never plug a drain hole. Cooling causes condensation, condensation coalesces into a puddle, that water must go somewhere! Since you don't have a compressor cooler, there are no evaporators and condensers to worry about, no coolant lines and so forth. I would hazard that once you have identified the power and thermostat lines there is not much else other than insulation there abouts between the skins of the box itself. The main reason that these coolers are around is that they are cheap and not complex. I collect my condensate, and while I do choose carfully where to drill, it does not stop me from running whatever I want into or out of a cooler. I would not think twice about drilling a hole in your box, away from power lines, back top, or back bottom, it does not matter much. This is an old picture.
