So I'm driving home and I see a bunch of trailers and canopies and cars in the parking lot of my corner drug store. Apparently they are filming a commercial. Reminded me of a couple of films shot close to home or work.

1) A scene from Back to the Future was filmed in my town (when it was rural) and another scene in the same movie was filmed at the mall parking lot.

2) A scene of Mission Impossible 2 (or 3) was filmed where Tom Cruise was running out of the hospital (that I worked in) a few years ago. I was joking around and asked one of the set workers if they needed a Tom Cruise stunt double.

3) I had an in instructor who rents her home out for movies. I remember her telling me that they shot the children's movie Matilde in her home. She lives in South Pasadena, California. They seem to film a lot of movies in those neighborhoods there.

they shoot a heap of movies in southeast qld (movie world might have something to do with it). on the coast, used to often see various "stars". and wannabees. i remember talking to one of the women from 'nip tuck'? (never seen the show) for several hours one evening. really lovely girl tho she must have thought we were pre-historic on the coast. one of the white shoe brigade kept leaving his wife (of one week - and, big surprise, she didn't last two) and running over to our table to insist he be allowed to take her to some island etc etc. i couldn't believe how polite she was. and possibly even providing a smidge of evidence of some divinity, i believe that shortly after, when the gfc hit, he could not have bought her a bus fare, let alone an island home.

i remember the tv series of 'mission impossible' (the second one - not the original) being shown when i lived in DC. watching it with some mates one night, i kept thinking, i know this place (was set in poland or somewhere similar). warsaw train station - brisbane. roma street. the whole thing was shot in brizzy and surrounds. weird.

They're filming the hobbit across the street from my office.

But then they're filming that thing all over the county so this could apply to almost any Kiwi (still living here).

Portions of "The Hunger Game" we're filmed near me as well as around Charlotte. Also scenes from "Days of Thunder" were filmed all through the immediate area. As well as the one I think called leathernecks about 1930's football with George Clooney.

Terminator 2. Some of the freeway chase scenes were done in San Jose. And the building where Arnold shoots all the cop cars with the minigun from the second story was in Fremont for a company I used to wok for. Looked for the detached arm and circuit board all over the second floor but I guess they got it right in the movie and they stole it...

Tyler Perry shot one of his "Madea" movies right on my street in Atlanta in the early 2000's. I saw him standing on the front lawn of one house with his crew and directors (MAN is he cu-u-u-t-e!!!) I haven't gone to the show much anymore but my best friend told me she saw my house briefly in that film he was shooting.
