So like the title says just pulled the trigger and have not tried this particular marca ever and wanted to expand a bit. So what are the opinions of the Panetelas. Did I make a mistake or is it a good buy. I like all flavors and strengths of cc just am up for something new

Paging Claus, where are you?

Back to the original question,

yes, RG Panetelas are good value, if it is the slightly smaller Panetela (hand made) it will be a classy smoke,

if the slightly bigger Panetela Extra, it is a short filler but still representative for Gonzalez -

toasted hazelnut, a touch of milky coffee (faint but nice), and a bready-toasty-sweetness.

Enjoy!

Sorry for the late reply - couldn't get online until late in the hotel in Vegas :)

I absolutely LOVE the RG Panetelas - I am up to 3 boxes now, all from 2003. They are smooth, creamy, and distinctly sweet. They are leagues above any Panetelas Extra that I've tried (granted, none of those was older than 2006).

Good decision, my brother!! Let's see if you can stick to just one box...

Thanks Claus. You didn't have to reply to my post on the other forum too. I didn't realize these were discontinued and with that being said I might have to snag another box if they are that good.

I didn't even look twice at the pan. extras since they are a machine made. Is it safe the say the corona extras are good as well as the panetelas

Hey Dean,

The Extras are not bad, but the old Panetelas are better :)

Both are hand made, but the Extra is short filler.

Cheers!

I see I failed to answer your actual question - I like the Panetelas a little better than the Coronas Extra but that might be because I never had a CE older than 2006.

Because of the impossibly low price for it, and because it was a little bigger than the regular RG Panatellas, I got hold of a box of Panatella Extras. I must admit it did have much more flavor IMHO than the Coronas Extras.
